Ok, so it's not life or death but ds came ploughing into me yesterday whilst I was carrying a cup of tea so now there is a huge stain on the carpet. Tried 1001 to no avail. Any ideas? Heard white vinegar works well but wanted some endorsement before using - don't want to make it worse!

Have you tried making up a solution of carpet shampoo and scrubbing it? I can get stains that are months old out that way. I use the Bissell (sp?) stuff, but that's only because that's the make of my carpet cleaner.

Oh thanks. I'm gonna try wipes and shampoo as i can't face hunting down laundry stuff (though will if others don't work). Thank you all for your tips

Boots sell borax in the household section, but you might be better off hiring a carpet cleaner and doing the whole carpet as it really notices when there is a fresh clean bit !

Wow u guys are such a fountain of knowledge. I feel most inferior . I tried baby wipes and am v pleased with the result. It's only a faint stain now. Will tackle the rest with carpet shampoo. Octavia, the carpet is quite new so the clean bit shouldn't stand out too much. Plus we have a no shoes policy in our flat (hard to maintain but so worth it). Anyway, it's amazing how that tea stain almost ruined my weekend. I'm not that shallow but it was the last straw in what's been a terrible month! Thank you all for your tips and I feel slightly guilty for diverting your attention away from more needy causes but ever so happy for the help
