Teeth grinding?!

Well this is a new one. My 9 month old ds has got 6 teeth, 4 on the top and 2 on the bottom and has recently (today and yesterday) started grinding them. Shudder. Obviously I find everything he says and does charming and delightful, especially the shouting and throwing things, but this one really takes the biscuit. I'm sure it's a developmental thing etc etc but I find it really weird and also hideous in the manner of chewing cotton wool or fingers down a blackboard. Any experience of this or advice on how to make him stop or how to stop me going pale and flinching every time I hear it?

Hi funnylittlekaty just want to say I went through this with my DD when she started to get her first teeth a few months ago. All I can say from my experience is that its probably just a phase they go through, something they find out they can do with their teeth. DD did it for a few days almost constantly and drove me made with the noises - I had to shove my finger in her mouth to get her to stop! After a while she slowed down and stopped altogether and hasn't done it since.

Yep agree its a phase and a short one if ds is representative. Just discovering the joy having two surfaces to grind and creak together.

Distraction I suppose, or put some distance between you when it starts. New teething ring maybe?
