I can't be the only one with a bit of a nappy obsession.

Can I? [confussed]

I read your post VQ and thought you were joking i.e. the LL sale had made your BP rise! I hope it doesn't come to anything and you can continue doing your great job. Perhaps some of the reason you were getting so stressed is because you weren't feeling so good for another reason? (though, you are completely justified getting so peed-off with it all).

Notgrownup - do you access to physio in the UK for stomach repair? Here you do and perineal training too. All free. I didn't do it last time (bit prudish for the perineal thing - you stick a doodly up your you-know-what and do squeezes and watch a monitor). I might do next time though, depending on how big DS2 is Grin.

I might peruse the LL sale too....

Notgrownupinmyhead · 02/11/2012 16:17

Hey bfg, I have an appt next week. It was for my coccyx but thats got better but my hip still hurts and need to mention my stomach, even when i tense my muscles it still sticks out. That could be a dress size lost when that bits fixed!!

ValiumQueen · 02/11/2012 18:13

Home. Bed rest. Am ok but overdoing things.

Your number one priority is YOU VQ. Your baby will not thrive if you don't. Rest, be taken care of, have plenty of sleep when you can.

There is something to be said about the French system. They keep you in for days after the birth - a week or more for a c-section - and this does give you a chance to recharge your batteries after a mind-blowing life change that having a baby can bring. Other people look after you and you only have to look after yourself and your baby.

Notgrownupinmyhead · 02/11/2012 19:51

VQ - good. I demand you stay there Grin

If you have a co-op near you its 2 cartons of Ben n Jerry's for £5.

I stocked up my freezer but shall not tell myfitnesspal.

ValiumQueen · 03/11/2012 10:26

Thank you. My DH has a gift at sniffing out Ben and Jerrys so we had that last night Grin courtesy of the Co-op.

I am quite enjoying the bed rest. It is very amusing hearing DH managing things, and he actually got up in the night and helped me. He feels less tired than he did, curiously.

He was given the option to use disposables while I am out of action, but he is choosing to use washables. Last night DD2 came into kiss me, and I politely suggested he put a night nappy on her. He then did so, and put her to bed. In she strolls this morning, in a cow print Alva nappy. He had put the bamboo on and used the Alva as a wrap. No leaks, but nappy not as wet as usual as she is fighting a cold. I was impressed, but did laugh. DH got upset, saying he was doing his best, and it was confusing. He is right. He has learned the large Fuzzis do not fit the newborn. The hard way!

Weigh In today. Fingers crossed.

PurplePidjin · 03/11/2012 10:53

Just goes to show they're not as incompetent as they'd like us to believe, VQ :o

Glad you're smiling again, any chance of a pic of some nb fluff on your profile to make me go ?

Notgrownupinmyhead · 03/11/2012 10:59

I ate a tub in 15 mins. Blush

Glad you're feeling better. Ive not got any pics on my profile I dont think as I use my phone. Ill check later.

I only spent £16 in the LL sale!!

Did any of you have a look??

ValiumQueen · 03/11/2012 11:02

I really must work out how to put stuff on my profile.

I have never eaten a whole tub. I would be sick. Possibly.

I bought 8 size 1 bamboo Nappies for £32. Could have got more. What did you get notgrown ?

PurplePidjin · 03/11/2012 11:03

My pics are mostly of crochet, but then i don't have a squishy to show off yet Wink

LeBFG · 03/11/2012 12:39

God those pack of 8 nappies were cheap. I wish they had them in size 3s!

ValiumQueen · 03/11/2012 13:12

Look at the trial packs. They did have size 3 bamboo with two nappies, a wrap and liners for £15.

LeBFG · 03/11/2012 14:56

Yes VQ. But I don't want liners and definately not a LL wrap (!) so that works out at 7.50 a nappy. Not such a great bargin Sad. I'll live though Smile.

You getting some rest time? Did Jacob gain today?

ValiumQueen · 03/11/2012 16:40

I agree. Sometimes the nappy lady sells them cheaper. I think she buys stuff in the sale! Grin

Weight stayed the same but apparently babies have a growth spurt days 8-10 so rarely register a gain on day 10. The midwife wondered why they had suggested a weight today as it was likely to result in a disappointed mummy. She said he is clearly fine, so has discharged me. I have not seen the same midwife twice. Even the ones who said they would be in theatre with me were substituted.

ValiumQueen · 03/11/2012 16:42

I am resting but DH is so tired. My mum had the girls from 9.30 to 2 and I had Jacob. He chose the football, but then says he just wanted 10 minutes peace and a couple of hours sleep. Unbelievable. Sometimes he can be so very selfish, and usually when I need him. I seem to remember this from last time too, and being one of the reasons we were stopping at two. He adores Jacob though, and is a great dad so long as he gets his beauty sleep.

Notgrownupinmyhead · 03/11/2012 17:10

I only got some bamboo boosters in each size.

Thats good his weight is the same Smile

I got the day I came home from hospital to rest then had to carry on as normal. DH had got spinal stenosis and is on a lovely cocktail of drugs including Meptid so he can barely move. I get angry at him too for not helping then I realise he does what his back and leg allows but they just dont realise how hard it is for the mum.

Got physio on Monday Grin

PurplePidjin · 03/11/2012 17:31

I organised a nearly new sale today and a lovely friend of mine had boosters for 50p each, sold me the lot for £2 Shock so with 60 prefolds, 20 wraps, 12 fitteds, 6 aios and now 10 or so boosters I think I'm all set!

VQ, those hormones are pesky things, i suggest you go nuclear once the older ones are in bed. He's tired? He's tired?! He hasn't pushed a watermelon out of his arse, nor is his body providing nourishment for two entire people Angry

I have high hopes of dp. He bought and organised dinner while i was busy this afternoon (slow cooker curry) and has just not only brought me tea and cake, he made a special trip upstairs for my cardi and hot water bottle - which he then filled and brought over i love my mil, I'm sure it's all her fault Long may it continue Hmm

ValiumQueen · 03/11/2012 17:37

I blame my MIL too. Frequently. Often to her face. You got some real bargains PP and a fabby husband.

notgrown wow you and DH have some challenges with his health. I am guessing that it is something that is not going to improve over time? You have my respect. My DH is just fat and lazy, but I love him so.

LeBFG · 03/11/2012 18:34

My DH would never help much in the early days. He would take DS when he had fits of tears that boo-boo couldn't fix (and for that I'm very grateful) but outside that he was pretty much hands-off. He was also pretty crap the week after the birth too. But fortunately he's made up a lot of ground now DS is older. PP, your hubby sounds great, just great. I ask mine to do stuff like that and all I get is a snarky 'what did your last slave die of?'. Hmm.

PurplePidjin · 03/11/2012 19:04

I didn't ask, that's what surprised me! I asked if he was going upstairs - he wasn't - he asked why, i said don't worry, i wanted my cardi and hot water bottle but I'll get them in a minute and he just went!! He's not as fab as this when I'm not pg, btw (although he is fab) so we shall see if it lasts post partum :o

Mums have an awful lot of responsibility, really, and get a lot of blame for their dc's behaviour even as adults. Maybe it's because I've never met my late FIL, or just because MIL is a very strong woman?

ValiumQueen · 03/11/2012 20:05

It is always the mothers fault. Always. It is a mans world.

DD2 in a fleece wrap. Rainbow totsbots preloved and cost pennies. Will report back on how it goes. Apparently they can smell a bit pissy due to evaporation. She smells pissy anyway first thing. So long as it does not leak.

I feel I want to evangelise about washable wipes. I feel the world needs to know!

PurplePidjin · 03/11/2012 20:22

I'm listening, haven't quite got my head round wiping an arse with a flannel yet - loo roll habits are deeply entrenched :o

ValiumQueen · 03/11/2012 20:44

Cotton wool is what I have used previously on newborns but I find it such a faff. I also seem to soak baby, always drop a bit, and it leaves little bits. Wipes are just too harsh. Have you ever wiped your bum with a baby wipe? Not nice. I am using cut up little lamb liners, and they are so very soft. I also put a dry one on his winkle and no more being peed on.

PurplePidjin · 03/11/2012 21:07

Can't say i have, tbh, will get on with stitching fleece to towel in readiness ASAP!

I'm such a hippy compared with other people i know with bumps/babies. I don't actually know anyone who's even considered cloth, or baby wearing Blush although I've mentioned stuff in front of the midwives and had some very supportive comments...

I like it in here, and at the sling meet. I feel normal, just because I've considered all my options Blush

Notgrownupinmyhead · 03/11/2012 21:16

Check you and your bargains out!!

I gave away an out n about double on Freecycle the other day, it wasn't good enough to sell in Ebay. The seat unit is all faded.

Parents do get the blame for dc's behaviour even though its not always the case, it sucks, my brother is a good example!! Blush

Dh had most of his bowels and intestine removed last tear and a stoma reversal a month before, so i feel like ive 4 boys instead of 3 at times. Hes got 30% mobilty in his legs and its getting worse. Hes got the form for DLA as its only a matter of time before he had to give up work. The Dr's have been trying to sign him off for the last couple of years but his wage is enough to help us just about get by each month so hes worried we'd be in limbo if he stopped first.

Do any if you swaddle?
