I can't be the only one with a bit of a nappy obsession.

Can I? [confussed]

Hi, Silver, glad all's going well :o

Are you on fb and am i on yours? (I'm hopeless at remembering who's who!) if not, pm me and I'll add you to a couple of selling groups if you like?

ValiumQueen · 23/10/2012 09:01

Welcome silver. Charlie Bananas indeed. Another nappy to google. have you seen an eBay cheapie yet? They are the nappy of choice for my DD to poo in.

The one life wraps are proving a bargain at £3 each. I have put the LL wraps away to sell and am gonna be a poppa girl from herein, for wraps anyway. The one life should see DD up to potty training as are only on middle setting, so well chuffed. They are quite poufy too.

Not feeling too good today. Acid is hideous and SPD has hit with a vengeance. Had to get my mum to take DD2 to nursery for me, and I drove DD1 to breakfast club so I did not have to walk and stand for ages.

2 more sleeps, not that I am sleeping. I am quite looking forward to having a catheter with my section as I will not have to get up to piss every hour!

ValiumQueen · 23/10/2012 09:06

Charlie banana sell sanitary pads!

Ooohhh VQ that has taken me right back to the dark days of late preg, erring 5 times a night is hideous, maybe you should put yourself in a bamboozle? Grin can't believe you only have 2 days to go... Glad you like the one life wraps I would have felt guilty for promoting them if you didn't !

I'm pretty sure my neighbour has Charlie Bananas > Silver welcome to the fluffy fun! how are you liking them compared to 2 parters? Congrats on your DS !

BiscuitCrumbsInBed · 23/10/2012 09:45

Oops that should be WEEING 5 times a night. ''Erring''?!

ValiumQueen · 23/10/2012 09:49

I have considered a bamboozle for myself. On more than one occasion!

silverfrog · 23/10/2012 10:17

Hi all Smile

Purple - not sure, I think we used to be fb friends a while back. will have a look in a minute.

I haven't seen the ebay cheapy - again, will have a hunt. is it any good? (presume it is, otherwise you'd be warning against!) what is the fit like? ds is a chunky boy - massive thighs, but waist more normal. so the adjustability of the Charlie onesize is really good as the legs are really adjustable (both elastic and poppers)

I like the pockets so far. but I did like the MEOS/Sandys and wraps too - they were fab and never really had an issue with them at all, and the dds were like chalk and cheese where fit ws concerned - dd1 was huge and dd2 tiny!

I just fancied a achange Blush (which is why it is dangerous for me to hang out here!). I shouldn't buy any more as ds is definitely the last baby, so won't be as economical as buying for the girls would have been... but as said upthread a little - ds has had virtually nothing else new, and so I splashed out a little.

I dolike the fact that you can pre-stuff, and then just grab one and off you go. the double lot of poppers with MEOS/airflow got tedious at times when the girls were being particularly wriggly...

ValiumQueen · 23/10/2012 10:38

I like the Alva Nappy 3 which comes from china and is about £4 including postage. Takes ages to arrive, so I wait until it does before I order another. Helps keep cost down and I always have a package to look forward to (sad addict that I am)

It is a OSFA pocket, and has poppas, comes with one microfibre insert, generous cut, minky type fabric, so far anyway. I have cow, giraffe, tiger and waiting on camouflage. DD always chooses one if there is one in the box, and will stroke the fabric against her face. She is reluctant to wear trousers and makes animal noises as appropriate. The tiger is particularly funny.

ValiumQueen · 23/10/2012 10:39

What do you prefer for nights silver ?

silverfrog · 23/10/2012 11:03

hmm, £4 is very cheap. I think I'd better not look at the patterns! Grin

They do sound quite good. I think I ended up paying about £7 each for ds' Charlie's - they come with 2 inserts each, so not too bad a price.

I am only using Charlie's at the moment with ds - I have a mixture of OS and medium old-style (not adjustable via elastic, but still have leg poppers) and am using a medium size at night, with double boosters - no leaks so far. ds is (obviously) still waking a fair bit at night, but I don't tend to change him unless he does a massive poo, so he is in one double boosted medium Charlie from about 11pm until 6am ish. I am impressed so far.

your dd sounds a hoot, valium - glad she is enjoying her nappies Smile

I have just invested in a pair of flip potty training pants, as dd1 is still in pull ups overnight (she's 8, with severe ASD). when it was just her, I gave up on the washables, as there wans't enough to do a wash with, and didn't want them sitting around for days until I could bung them in the wash. but now that ds is here, and I am doing a wash most days, then she can go back into cloth too.

it was Shock ££££-wise, but it does look good. it is just being pre-washed, so she can start wearing it soon - will report back on fit and absorbability in due course.

PurplePidjInAPointyHat · 23/10/2012 11:36

Initials PA Wink

ValiumQueen · 23/10/2012 11:36

I will be very keen to hear about the flip. They look lovely, and I am impressed they would fit an 8yo. I wonder if they would fit my dad? Seriously! He is 79 and weighs 6 1/2 stone, and has had most of his intestines, including his stomach removed. His motions are very unpredictable, and he has to control them with codeine, which is a bit hit and miss. He wears small adult inco pants, which cost a fortune. He will go days without soiling, but throws them away each day as they cannot be washed. Could you please measure the rise when you have a mo? The sides I could adjust to fit easily I am sure.

My brother has Asbergers, and was dry at night by 18 months? DD1 (6) has only been dry a few months. She now wakes and walks zombie like to the loo. Unfortunately she has been known to wee with the seat down, so it goes everywhere and the bed ends up wet anyway as her pjs are wet. She is not properly awake I am sure.

silverfrog · 23/10/2012 11:47

I am not yet sure it will fit her! But she wears size 5 pull ups (just) so I figured it would probably be ok. And if not then dd2 (5, not yet entirely reliable at night) can use it, or ds when the time comes. I'll measure happily when ds lets me up from the sofa Grin

It does look very impressive, and stretchily adjustable, so I'll let you know how it fits dd1. She's 8, about 130cm tall and weighs around 22kg I think.

ValiumQueen · 23/10/2012 12:30

I would think it would fit her if she can squeeze in a size 5 pull-up. Fingers crossed for you. Which colour did you go for? I like the purple.

PurplePidjInAPointyHat · 23/10/2012 14:25

VQ, get onto the continence service asap for an assessment of his needs, no way should he be buying his own (although depending on area he may get a limited number on the NHS)

There are free patterns all over the web, or cut up a sposie one to copy, and PUL is available on ebay. I'm swamped with projects that need finishing before PidjChick arrives or I'd do it for you.

ValiumQueen · 23/10/2012 14:44

That is very sweet of you PP. He will not be assessed. He is very proud and stubborn. He does not even know I know. He would throttle mum for saying anything. That is a really good idea to cut up a disposable and use it as a pattern. I would need to make an effort to ensure the stitching was appalling to pass for mums Grin

fudge74 · 23/10/2012 16:14

Hi Silver Biscuit
I've got a load of fluff finishing on ebay tomorrow, so I'll let you know if I'd recommend selling that way. I have bids on some bundles, not so much activity on the individual ones, but I had to put them on that way as I had loads of different makes!
I agree with VQ about the Alva nappies. my babies are pre-chubbed too which means that DD is already on the last popper around the legs at 7 1/2 months. I am hoping that her thighs won't get much fatter than this tho, as the growing is now all about length, not girth, I hope!
Better go and do some proper jobs while madam is still asleep. TTFN!

PurplePidjInAPointyHat · 23/10/2012 17:15

How about sewing booster pads into normal pants? Layer of fleece, 2 layers of towelling should be enough for someone who can communicate that it's happened, and much more appropriate for someone compos mentis than the current situation...

I was browsing Boots for labour bag stuff and they do washable pants to go over adult pads, 3 pairs £9.99. Dunno how nice they'd be to wear though.

ValiumQueen · 23/10/2012 17:49

PP that is an idea. I am doing it to DD2s pants so if I just upscale. I am putting a layer of PUL then booster but he could have fleece too. I will have a look at the boots website. Many thanks!

PurplePidjInAPointyHat · 23/10/2012 17:56

You could PUL the outer, but for an adult who knows and can act on what's happening, it's more about buying time. I meant fleece next to skin for wicking, a double layer of polar might be too hot under clothes. How mobile is he?

ValiumQueen · 23/10/2012 18:14

Yes, fleece next to his skin. DD needs to know she is wet, but dad does not .He is very mobile, and it tends to happen when he is out, and it just pours out, so I think PUL would help buy him a bit of time to find a public toilet.

I had bids on some fleece wraps and won! They were very low bids too, so I am well chuffed. Perhaps fleece is not very popular at the moment. I got two small and two bigger ones.

PurplePidjInAPointyHat · 23/10/2012 18:18

There are so many solutions available but only if he will take the help Sad

ValiumQueen · 23/10/2012 18:26

He is so bloody stubborn! Thank you for your help ,even getting mum to think of other options is hard.

LeBFG · 24/10/2012 08:19

Getting old in no fun. Is it your final night today VQ? Well done for getting so far [hsmile]

PurplePidjInAPointyHat · 24/10/2012 08:34

My Gran is the same (91, although no major health issues and living independently in the bungalow she raised her family in!) Encouraging them to admit they need the help is the absolute biggest obstacle, and rightly so. If your Mum is more receptive, could she be persuaded to talk to the community nurse? Hide it as "just doing his/her rounds" or something...
