I can't be the only one with a bit of a nappy obsession.

Can I? [confussed]

Good idea VQ
Baby wearing - use a sling when convenient and prob would have used more in the house when dd tiny if i'd had less help. They get heavy, tho! I've been given an old ergo lately which i love now dd bigger.
Co-sleeping - need my own space and dh wriggles too much Grin altho dd has other ideas and we often end up co-sleepng on couch Shock!
Lentils - I love them, sorry! but am what i call a fish and chipocrite, ie no meat but i do eat fish! I also sew and do woodwork but can only knit straight lines!
BF - absolutely! i can type at the same time, see! [proud]
HE and moon cups, no thanks! both too much hassle! DS and i did do lots of studying this summer for 11+ tho, and it was ok but would not be able to hack it full time. I like going to work 4 days/week. but am enjoying my mat leave at the mo.
Where were all the rich men when we were looking, eh?

fudge74 · 21/10/2012 11:21

Oh and i reckon my hippy friends think i'm straight, and my straight friends think i'm a hippy Confused

Notgrownupinmyhead · 21/10/2012 12:57

Only co sleep with the 4yr old when dh is on nights and only when he has behaved (ds1 that is). Other than that and being ill. Fuck off its my bed you've your own!!!

Haven't bf after leaving the hospital. Need to be able to share the night feedings and sort ds1 out when he has his night terrors so can leave dh feeding whichever child has woken. The 1yr old is a dustbin and never stops eating and still wakes at various times to be fed, luckily he goes straight back to sleep afterwards!!

Have wraps but 'wearing' wrecks my back.

Did consider HE as we couldn't get ds1 into the local schools. Then a place came up. Do use workbooks and help him with reading, counting etc.

Lentils make me fart. Used to get called a hippy when i was a teen though then turned into the metaller I am today! I am the freaky mother on the school run!! Grin

I do think though that if we can still conceive into our 40's its meant to be. I love kids and think everybody should have them Wink

Apart from when they are being challenging then I want to give them away Wink

THe baby wearing thing did my back in big style too. It's not something they add to the advertising is it?

We're quite a crafty bunch aren't we. I sew a bit but mainly sit looking at my lurverly sewing machine in the corner of the room

PurplePidjInAPointyHat · 21/10/2012 13:25

I'm on a limited budget but looking for a stretchy wrap if anyone fancies off loading?

ValiumQueen · 21/10/2012 13:38

I think I like the idea of baby wearing, but as I was going back to work when they were 5 months old, I did not think it was fair on them to be 'dropped' so suddenly into a nursery environment. I made a point of leaving them for gradually increasing amounts (with my mum or husband) from about 3 months so they got used to me coming back.

ValiumQueen · 21/10/2012 13:45

Perhaps the wearing cloth and being crafty goes hand in hand? I would love to make more things, but there is little time when they are young.

I had a look on FB cloth nappy thing and some of the fancy nappies are just awesome, with ruffles and tails. There is even a gruffalo one. I was thinking I could make that, and that. And the prices!

I really like the look of the mai tai and would love to make one. They look easier and more comfy than wraps.

PP do you mean nappy wrap or baby carrier wrap? I am guessing the latter.

Notgrownupinmyhead · 21/10/2012 15:30

Oh I forgot that bit. I can only knit it straight lines!!

Yeah, even a Mei Tai knacked me back.

Im on ML, was on it last year too then took my holidays then ML again!!! I miss work sometimes.

Hmmm, would burning scented oils and using aromatherapy oils make me a lentil weaver? Oh and eating humous and falafel?

Notgrownupinmyhead · 21/10/2012 15:30

I have a black stretchy wrap to offload (sling)

PurplePidjInAPointyHat · 21/10/2012 15:40

Oh yeah, baby carrier wrap!

Notgrownupinmyhead · 21/10/2012 16:21

I dont use it and it was only going on Ebay. Grin

PurplePidjInAPointyHat · 21/10/2012 16:26

You have pm, NotGrown Wink

ValiumQueen · 21/10/2012 16:27

According to a quick look at past threads about lentil weaving, it is nothing to do with lentils, but things like using cloth nappies, being creative, sling wearing, breast feeding, so Blush Oops! There are also yoghurt knitters, which are very similar.

NumptyDumty · 21/10/2012 17:43

Well,

The only ones I really do is breastfeed and cloth bum!

I bought a sling but I don't like it, more I can't make it work for us both.

We co-sleep if he wakes up in the night for a feed because I bring him into our bed and fall asleep while feeding, more laziness than anything else, it is nice waking up having cuddles but the bigger he gets I suppose it will loose it's appeal!

I'm not crafty atall though Hmm

And I'm not keen of the thought of cloth pads for me, bit too far, especially preloved ones.... [bleugh sicky face]

BiscuitCrumbsInBed · 21/10/2012 17:49

Very happy for VQ 's three little miracles! So many people I know have had fertility problems, i'd love to have more and hopefully will, but it makes you realise how lucky you are to even have one. Can't wait for your boy to arrive and wear his pink fluff!

Hmm lentil weaving...

Massive yes to bf, still going at 14 months, the lazy way to feed/comfort/ get sleep..
Never thought I would co-sleep but have done every night since about 4 months - not an ideological issue, but only way of keeping my milk monster happy and getting any sleep!
Baby wearing - hilarious term, DD was too heavy! Plus having to carry all changing stuff etc like a pack horse - no thanks - load up the pram!
Crafty - I love to knit but can only do v basic stuff and not really since DD was born.
Very much a carnivore!
No thanks to home Ed, I am SAHM and see school as free childcare - roll on the day! Grin
mooncups - yuuuukkkk nooooo!

I think we don't fulfil any stereotype and it's annoying when people assume you do, grrr

ValiumQueen · 21/10/2012 17:50

Pre loved pads NOOOOOO! . Bet some pervert would buy them on eBay though (considers business opportunity)

With co sleeping, there are just the two of us when we co to sleep, but always 4 when we wake up. Wonder if there is room for the new baby.

BiscuitCrumbsInBed · 21/10/2012 17:51

Euw to preloved pads Numpty that's just wrong! How was your DH's night out?! Hope he wasn't too hungover to get up nice and early today...!

LeBFG · 21/10/2012 19:56

Laughing over supper about pre-loved pads Grin. Serious question: if pre-loved nappies are pre-shat, what are pre-loved pads?

ValiumQueen · 21/10/2012 19:59

Pre-gored? Pre-bloodied? Pre- auntie-flo'd?

PurplePidjInAPointyHat · 21/10/2012 20:02

Relieved of their virginity?

ValiumQueen · 21/10/2012 20:07

Pre-fucked? (to tie in with PP comment)

ValiumQueen · 21/10/2012 20:08
PurplePidjInAPointyHat · 21/10/2012 20:11

Cherry popped Wink

No Wine just rude sense of humour

ValiumQueen · 21/10/2012 20:22

Pre-popped. Like it.

ValiumQueen · 21/10/2012 20:23

Baby has the worst hiccups. Oops.
