I can't be the only one with a bit of a nappy obsession.

Can I? [confussed]

Yum to naan bread too - I'm well impressed with the baking skills on this thread. In fact, as I haven't had a curry in over a year, bloody yum to curries too. DH won't eat them!!! I made a prawn salad yesterday for him - no complaints. And pumpkin soup today. He kept schtum. I'm sure the lunches aren't 'beefy' enough for him, but well, better than a punch in the nose. We'll all be living on fudge soon anyway.

The lollipops are fab. Dry sooo quickly and go reliably with a bamboo booster for three hours. And they are really, really soft. I love them. Not a very natural material though. Good job I'm not a lentil-weaver (whatever that is). They've stopped making them haven't they? I couldn't find any fleece ones on the Lollipop website. If they have, I wonder why?

Kazriina · 11/10/2012 13:22

Apart from the bamboozles I have a wrap for them, and I have a one life one that I can use the wrap on too.

Last night she leaked all over twice, think I may have to do sposies on a night & I really didn't want to

I have 7 bumgenius coming and people have said they are good for night time so we will see.

Kazriina · 11/10/2012 13:25

My problem with the lollipop is the booster just sits there, on top, no popper no pocket Confused so I worry it will wiggle out, I bought them because people said they were good for nighttime/heavy wetters

I use two wraps - little lamb and motherease. The motherease (predictably) is the most reliable. Are your wraps large enough to cover the nappy properly? How old is your DD? I remember when my DS was titchy he leaked a lot, both in sposies and in fluff. Although he was premmie, he grew really fast and quickly became a chunky monkey so I always thought that was the problem. If sposies work for you at night, just use them for now and don't feel bad about it. I find the liners move a lot more than the booster actually. By the time it's wedged in with a wrap, it doesn't move much even though he now only knows one gear (run).

PurplePidjin · 11/10/2012 13:42

Naan dough is easy, only 6 minutes kneading. I have a machine for anything more arduous.

Dal: 2 cups red lentils, 1 tin chick peas, 3 cups water, 4 tsps varioys spices (curry powder, garam masala, turmeric, ginger, chilli, paprika, cumin, etc) whatever's in the cupboard. Slow cooker on low for 4 hours. Can bung in some meat too for curry or just eat as is like thick soup :)

LeBFG · 11/10/2012 13:54

Yuuumy. That sounds delicious. I'm having a thing for lentils at the moment too.

ValiumQueen · 11/10/2012 13:57

kaz try the booster on the outside between the nappy and the wrap, if it is the lollipop two part nappy. It will not get free from there.

Try putting them on a bit looser as being too tight can make them leak.

Are you using liners? If it is a pocket with fleece layer, ie Alva or Fuzzis, leave out the liner as that could be causing the leak. If you use a liner, do not use it folded.

Save the bamboozles for night time only, and boost well with bamboo between nappy and wrap.

I may be in early stage labour by the way, so off to clean.

PurplePidjin · 11/10/2012 14:15

Ooh exciting, VQ, best of luck!

Kazriina · 11/10/2012 14:16

Oh congrats valium try get some food down you, I was starving during labour and kept bribing the midwife so I could have more Percy pigs lol

The lollipops are aio supposedly, should I still use a wrap with aio's, in concerned it will make her too big/sweaty?

I haven't been using liners so far just boosters.

leBFG my dd is 11 weeks and 14lb14 so defo not a little baby, maybe I'll invest in a mother ease wrap and see how it goes

LeBFG · 11/10/2012 15:22

Eeek VQ. How exciting! Keep us updated. Aren't you booked for a c-section? How does it work if you go into labour first?

With AIOs you don't need an extra wrap Kaz. I only used two parters at 11 weeks. They say the fit is better. If you think about it, there are two barriers to wee/poo escaping. But I know plenty of people on here use the AIOs with no problems. Fitting is so difficult isn't it? You never know if it's right. With experience it gets a lot easier. I'm hoping DS2 will be a doddle (sp?) in comparison to DS1! Certainly at 11 weeks, DS was leaking almost every night in all nappies I was trying. Just had to do a lot of changes. He grew out of it.

LeBFG · 11/10/2012 17:27

I forgot to ask you Purple if DH did indeed do the bike ride in the rain?

Would it be possible Kaz that the nappies have some sort of detergent build up? If they are leaking very quickly, this is usually a sign.

PurplePidjin · 11/10/2012 17:55

Yes, he rides every day, unless he's either really tired or needs to take stuff to the tip like today.

ValiumQueen · 11/10/2012 18:03

I didn't know lollipops did aio's.

BFG yes, section booked for two weeks today. Saw MW and she said if my waters go or contractions 30 mins apart, go to hospital and they would section me as soon as there is a free theatre. Happy with that.

LeBFG · 11/10/2012 18:20

My DH used to ride every day too in our previous lives as academics. Had no car and we used to cycle to the farm shop for all our groceries. Now he's always out doing physical work he doesn't have the energy. I miss it a bit. A lovely way to exercise.

I thought you were a bit further away from c-date VQ. There remains the possibility you can hang on for two weeks. Either way, it'll all be fine.

fudge74 · 11/10/2012 20:11

Kaz welcome! Keep trying but remember that the fundamental make up of any real nappy is (from inside outwards) a liner, an absorbent layer, and then a waterproof layer. Check your AIOs really do have all of these parts. I've got a POP IN that looks like an AIO but needs a liner. I find that the stuffables need three layers of absorbent padding (bamboo, terry, microfibre, hemp...) stuffed inside esp before DD went onto solids. They wee a lot! I had a tots bots fluffle that I thought was waterproof, like the fleece wraps are, but it actually needed a wrap, i found after a huge wet patch emerged!!
Good luck! Let us know how you get on - and perhaps try a vinegar rinse as mentioned some time back in this thread.

BiscuitCrumbsInBed · 11/10/2012 20:28

Hi all, wow VQ update please...?! Are you def in labour? Is the little one here already?!

Kaz I've had leaks in my miosolo AIOs and am now using a little lambs bamboo booster with them which has done the trick, turns out DD is just a heavy wetter...you shouldn't need to use an extra wrap, maybe it's worth ringing up the nappy manufacturers to ask advice?

DD is asleep already... Last night she was up til9 sigh... So I am celebrating by er watching tv and going to do some knitting! How exciting! Going to look into that fudge recipe BFG I am still bf-ing and using that as an excuse to eat cake and chocolate I wonder why I'm still not back in my jeans?

ValiumQueen · 12/10/2012 07:37

No baby yet. No pains since 6pm last night. Good my body is limbering up though as it did feck all the last two times. Dreamed I had an unplanned home birth last night, and it was lovely. DH went for his paper and came home to me and baby on the floor. No mess, no pain. If only Grin

LeBFG · 12/10/2012 08:08

I'm hoping for one of them too VQ. Not least because if you give birth in a French hospital they keep you trapped there for at least four days!!!

Biscuit, fudge is a well known and well proven milk enhancer. Guaranteed to not go to the hips. How often are you bfing btw? I'm looking forward to starting again.

BiscuitCrumbsInBed · 12/10/2012 09:37

VQ your dream birth sounds perfect! Maybe it's a premonition...?

BFG that's good news about the miracle properties of fudge! Smile DD is 14 months and bf 2-3 times a day usually but often more at night...! Yesterday it was 7am, 11am, 12pm, 7 pm, 8pm, 10pm, 12 midnight, 4am.. Then just now! Hmm it looks alarming written down but is ok, feeds are quite quick, plus she's got a cold so has been feeding more. I'm hoping she'll cut down a bit soon as I'd like to have another one to use my fluff on and that's not going to happen if she carries on being such a milk monster !

ValiumQueen · 12/10/2012 09:44

biscuit after a ventouse and then a section, I doubt it Grin especially as this one is a boy. That is a lot of feeding for a 14 month old. I just fed mine am and pm after about a year. I worked full time so I guess that made a difference. She was used to a bottle of bm twice a day whilst i was at work up until then, but I fed her myself at weekends.

BFG good to know about the fudge Grin

I am thinking of dipping my toe in the wool soaker world once baby is here and I am recovered. Definately considering fleece for nights.

LeBFG · 12/10/2012 10:01

Yes, VQ, my sis went back to work and was on two feeds a day at 12 months. However, I distinctly remember DS was on 6 a day because I visited a friend in the UK at the time and she was doing the same for her 12mo. So, biscuit, easily within the normal range I should say. But you haven't ovulated yet? What a buggar. I started cycling again at 10 months. But then I needed plenty of time to work on DH for the second. Fortunately he ceded in the end Smile.

I'm glad I reminded myself about the fudge. I'll go and make another batch Grin...oh, buggar, I'm not lactating yet.

I would love to know more about someone using the woolly soakers. I'm sorely tempted to just do it. They look so cute, like little shorts. I'm thinking about throwing all my LL wraps out. They are crap. They wick between the legs. Not sure where I'm going wrong.

ValiumQueen · 12/10/2012 11:24

My comments about feeding were certainly not meant as a criticism. I am very impressed that you are still feeding that much (clearly a much kinder mummy than me ). Surely that allows for extra fudge too.

LL wraps crap? I must admit the label is where mine leak, which pisses me off somewhat, but I find mine do an adequate job. (I am on the look out for some size 1 wraps btw). I would not buy them new again as there are better ones out there, and they are a bit bulky I find.

There is a short thread about wool soakers, Tchaikovsky started it, and she links to a trial I may consider. The Longies are fairly pricy though.

BiscuitCrumbsInBed · 12/10/2012 13:47

Don't worry, didn't take it as criticism! And thanks for reassurance bfg. I've been a bit 'are we normal?!' but read some bf threads on here and was encouraged by the wide range of 'normal' - mind you I would be quite very happy if she was on 2 a day I'm just not sure how to manage it. Really want to kickstart the old ovaries! If anything DH is MORE brooch than me...!

Wool Longies do sound cute, I will check out the thread. Ive got a bummis wrap which is v good, never had a leak despite some very squirty poos - and they come in cute patterns. Sized though, and Velcro rather than poppers. I'd quite like a blueberry wrap, might treat myself, any idea where they are cheapest?

LeBFG · 12/10/2012 13:54

I tried all sorts to get DS off the boob so much. I was not a very kind mummy at all. He just insisted in the way they do. Plus I was (still am) always around so never found a way of reducing feeds. I would never have believed at 12 months he would be weaned completely by 17 - but he was.

Will check out thread too thanks VQ. I've always thought the blueberries look cute too biscuit. No idea where to get them cheap .

I strangely never had a problem with the sole LL size 1 I had VQ. Can't understand it really. I have one new size 2 that's just started but the rest are second hand...Perhaps time to buy some more motherease and be sensible

ValiumQueen · 12/10/2012 14:10

There was a batch of LL size 2 wraps that were faulty. Might be worth dropping them a line, but of they were pre loved, they probably would not be interested. I know they were selling some pot luck wraps a few months back for £1 and you literally took a chance on them being ok. It is just the label I find leaks (stupid design)

I got my blueberry from the nappy lady for about £12
