IME (and really I hope that this won't happen for you) things can go a bit pear-shaped with sleep at around 4 months. I so remember feeling really smug about DS2 only waking once in the night at about 3.5mo, only to be launched back into many, many feeds through the night at about 4 mo - and it went on for a while.

From my desperate efforts to work out what was going on (DS1 was the easiest baby ever so I was very clueless), I think that the consensus is that it's a developmental thing and nothing to do with needing solids etc, which is what lots of people will tell you. Here in Australia, starting solids anytime from 4 mo is now seen as fine by health professionals and I did indeed give it a go - didn't make a blind bit of difference to the waking up!
