DS is 2.5 and seems to be ready in the sense he can hold it in a bit and talks about wees and poos but so far we've only had about two hits and LOTS of misses including poo all over the carpet this morning. The problem seems to be actually sitting on the potty or trainer seat itself. Have sent out DP to buy a slightly bigger potty chair thing but he is very anti throwing money at things like this so won't get any of the quite fancy ones I've seen - and to be fair, I can see his point, bloody annoying if it doesn't help. Anyway, having just scrubbed poo off the (new) carpet, am needing some words of encouragment / advice please!

Words of encouragement. My DS didn't get the hang of it properly (oh the poo, the poo....) until he was 3. I was patient, I bought seats, I was encouraging and all the rest. I'm afraid the only thing that worked in the end was to get a bit stern with him. He thought it was all a big joke at just the same moment I had a sense of humour failure. Never looked back after that

thanks - the new potty chair (£12.99 thank you toysrus) is a big success so far - no actual wees but likes sitting on it at least Smile
