Calling parents of 3 boys! Whats it like?

We found out this week that ds3 is on the way! We have two absolutely fab boys already who get on so well, are generally easy going most of the time & a joy to be around. So I'm looking forward to another boy joining our brood but was just wondering what others experiences of an all boy clan are like? I'm hoping it will be fine but I'm already fed up with the reaction from others 'you'll have a wrecked house, you'll have no rest, it will be noisy, you're gonna have your hand full! etcetc...

When the baby arrives DS1 will be 4.8 & DS2 nearly 3.

Thanks!

It's brilliant! Seriously!
The food bills are huge, the house is always noisy but there are tons of cuddles and loads of laughter. It's not complicated... No sulking. Any arguments seem to flare and then pass. I wouldn't change it for a second.
Congratulations! GrinGrin

Ps. Ignore anyone who is negative. Someone actually said "oh poor you...." when I told them we'd found out DC3 was a boy too ...
I just asked them if they had meant to be so rude? And said we were delighted. That shut her up Wink

You'll be fine. Our biggest problem is the 3 of them are on football teams so we struggle to be in 3 places at once! They are very different characters too. I think some people believe 3 boys = 3 clones. Not true!!

its fabulous! i have 4 boys and a baby girl now, but it was great having 3 boys and then 4 boys, they will eat you out of house and home! but it is lovely :)

ptangyangkipperbang · 11/02/2012 10:29

Start putting money away now for the bread/ milk/ cereal bills you'll have in 10 years time!

Olbasoil · 11/02/2012 10:38

Its pure joy, lots of fun, easy going and very active

Four boys here, blissful!

Very busy life, as they're always out and about, but just brilliant.

They're all between 15 and 21 now, and still cuddle their aged Mum. :o

MyBaby1day · 11/02/2012 14:34

What a blessing Smile, a HUGE Congratulations! x

jubilee10 · 11/02/2012 14:37

3 boys here too and it's great. I second the 'eating you out of house and home" but they are real Mummy's boys and no bother. I wouldn't know what to do with a girl. They are very different charactors too.

Haribojoe · 11/02/2012 14:41

We've got 3 boys 7, 4 and 17 months, and I love it Smile.

We do get through a lot of food (don't know if that's a boy thing or just growing children) but they play together well and for the most part are loving and kind and as others have said there is always a lit of laughter.

It can get noisy (again not sure that is exclusive to boys) but for the most part I just love the chaos Grin

DC 4 is due at the end of march and I swing between thinking a girl would be nice and then thinking a tribe of 4 boys would also be fab Wink

Congratulations, as you already know boys are fab!

TessTosterone · 11/02/2012 16:38

I have 3 and love it. Yes it's noisy and chaotic. It's also funny and there is never a dull moment. They a cuddly and we have a lot of laughs. They do fight though sadly.

I am also expecting dc4 and as above swing between favouring a girl and boy. I think there would be something very special about 4 of the same gender.

fluffygal · 11/02/2012 16:48

I have 3 boys and 2 girls, the boys are definitely noisy, crash and bang play fighting all the time! There is 2 years between the oldest and youngest so being so close in age probably adds to the chaos!

Zipitydooda · 11/02/2012 22:15

Having 3 boys is very special, my youngest is just a baby so not much different to a girl yet (some would argue that), the other 2 do fight but also love each other very much and play together. THe house is always a whirlwind of mess within minutes of them getting in.

I do get very annoyed by the constant comments from other people though, even family.

"Was he an accident?"

"Oh I've spent the morning with your niece, it's so different looking after a girl, so quiet, so calm, so easy etc ..... "

"Will you try again for a girl?"

"It's so special having a daughter"

"Gosh! Three boys!"

I really would love a daughter but I dont think that's going to happen and I wonder how much my thoughts have been clouded by all the negative comments about boys and all the positives about girls.

Firawla · 11/02/2012 22:18

i have 3 boys too but they are all still small yet (oldest is 3, then 2 then 6 months) so not yet eating out of house and home, but they are already really noisy (even though only 1 of them can talk so dont know how it will be when they all can!). i think 3 boys together is lovely, mine love each other a lot already although the older 2 do fight but its just the normal squabbling about toys and they are really close.
i did get some oh poor you type comments but i think not really meant in a negative way just more of a 'you will have your hands full' type of a way, but if people are negative then just ignore! 3 boys is great and im sure it will be fun for them each having 2 brothers to play with

5inthebed · 11/02/2012 22:23

I have three boys and it is amazing.

There are times where I don't have a second to catch my breathe, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

ChocolateBiscuitCake · 12/02/2012 09:04

I have two DS's and another on the way tomorrow (pretty confident I saw on the scan) so it's lovely to hear about the madness and chaos!!! Just got to get through labour first - errgghhh!

ilikeyoursleeves · 12/02/2012 20:28

Choclatebiscuitcake- good luck for the labour!!!!

Thanks for all the responses everyone, now the news has sunk in I am really looking forward to meeting our new wee man. I got all the old baby clothes out the attic today and we have TONS so won't need to buy a single item! Result!
