Congratulations.

Why you want to study the subject?
Why you want to study it there?
Why now?
I also got asked to comment on historians I like/read so depending on your subject something like this could come up.

I am sure you will be great. Share the details, what, where etc.

Well done!

Think I "spoke" to you on another thread, I've applied for OT and have got an interview on Thursday.

These are the questions I'm preparing.

How do you think you'll cope with the acedemic/study time commitment?
What appeals to you about this course?
Why Plymouth?
What did you learn on your work experience?
What qualities make you suitable to be a mental health nurse?

Good luck! Post after so we can all find out how it was and give me any pointers for my interview

cheesesarnie · 11/02/2012 17:02

thankyou!great questions-will take note and practise .
goodluck to you to!where ?

It's part-time in Wrexham. Am quietly terrified! I'm interested in the MH side of OT, what appeals to you about MH nursing?

crazynanna · 12/02/2012 13:41

Watching with interest...well done.

DD got her interview in March

cheesesarnie · 12/02/2012 17:50

i think its the fact that its often a hidden illness, not like having a broken leg etc and that although its very common its still got so much of a stigma. im interested in the treatment and care of not only the patient but their families, in the community but also in specialist hospitals/centres.tbh until my dad was in a psychiatrict unit i didnt know anything about mhn, what it involved, care and treatments-it scared me a bit,the unknown i suppose!but seing his journey and finding out what mhn do suddenly all made sense and it was a bit like 'when i grow up....'Grinobviously i know that everyones experience of mh is different and that my dads just one of many but i want to find out more and i want to be part of someone elses story.
crazynanna-well done your dd!

cheesesarnie.... I have a similar interest due to my brother being in hospital. I couldnt do what you are doing though, but I think your idea about exploring what is on offer for the families is superb as I feel that real support for my parents is definitely what is lacking - no one even told them his diagnosis until I asked one day. If you ever need me to answer any research questions you might need a guinea pig for I would be most pleased to participate.

My experiences have led me to explore in a historical context (rather obviously) luckily my uni has lots of history of mental health and deviance type modules on offer.

cheesesarnie · 12/02/2012 18:12

thankyou Grin

Thanks cheese that's really interesting that both you and mixedmama are basing your careers on family experiences. It's the same for me, my father and grandmother were in psychiatric facilities and I think I want to help people in an area that is so wrongly stigmatised.

Oh, good luck for tomorrow, so excited

Come on here and give us a blow-by-blow as soon as!

JoanRobinson2012 · 13/02/2012 21:29

Wishing you good luck for tomorrow cheesesarnie :)

hermionestranger · 13/02/2012 21:31

Wine I know it's a bit early in the day, but you've earned it.

I'm sorry you weren't happy with how it went, but they are probably really used to people being nervous.

Good luck, anyway, and I hope the waiting isn't too horrible. You never know, it might all be fine!
