What does your child occupied house look like today?

I'm having a bad couple of days house wise, mess multiplying and tired from non sleeping baby and children who I love, but can make the house go from tidy to burgled in minutes. What does your house look like now, a kind of snap shot?

Like a toy monster has vomited all over the lounge. (2 ds's, 4yo and 22mo) I'm
Knackered and pregnant and can't be arsed to tidy it up.Grin

Molehillmountain · 07/02/2012 11:18

Grin we must have one of those!

Lovely winter sun streaming in the window, accenting every crumb on the table, floor and elsewhere, the dust on most surfaces and the fingerprints on the windows and glazed doors. Toy tractors in a pile to one side of the room, pile of paperwork by the laptop, wet washingin a basket (which probably won't make it onto the line now!). Random hats, lego men, pencils, ds games forming a trail from one end of house to the other.

Not manky or overly messy, but certainly not clean and tidy Grin

Only one is at home, but a casual glance indicate a Fifi jigsaw puzzle expolsion in th elounge and a large amount of breakfast stuff lurking on the kitchen table I've been too busy MNing to clear in the kitchen.
Absolutely no intention of even looking in the 2 DSs bedrooms

Molehillmountain · 07/02/2012 11:20

Oh the ruddy sun! Has highlighted the fingerprints and greasy marks on the living room windows!

Its clean but dd has just ripped up her colouring book and so there is paper on the floor everywhere, she will be picking this up. We can go from tidy to messy in two seconds too. I try to go out as much as poss weather permitting that is.

pepperrabbit · 07/02/2012 11:21

and i had one of those brief moments where you think "did the BBC weather promise mist?" then realise the windows are minging slightly grubby...

greensnail · 07/02/2012 11:24

Floors are reasonably clear as I've just cleaned them, however dd2 is currently very busy cleaning every surface with milk

Molehillmountain · 07/02/2012 11:25

I had plans to knit and read mags when dd2 sleeps decently today. But I kind of think my sanity will demand I tidy. There's not a room I walk into and think "ah that's done". I have low standards too - dont need clean!

BreeVanDerTramp · 07/02/2012 11:25

It's clean but there are a lot of toys everywhere and DS2 just made a rice crispie rain shower than I can't be arsed to clean up.

twolittlemonkeys · 07/02/2012 11:32

Looking round me in the kitchen/dining room, the patio doors and windows are covered in fingerprints, the radiators all have clothes drying on them, breakfast dishes still out, cereal all over the floor, courtesy of DS2 who munches cheerios and suchlike dry as a snack. Also a couple of toilet roll cardboard tubes which DS2 won't let me throw out as they are telescopes!
The table and worktops are covered with odds and ends, including holiday paperwork (we go to Disneyland Paris next week!), dirty dishes and ones on the draining board waiting to go away. Floor could do with a sweep and mop.

Living room looks a bit like it has been ransacked. DS2 has had his train set out, all the fleecy blankets are strewn across the floor, as are several DVD boxes. Ugh, I do not have the energy to tackle it - think I'm coming down with something as I feel cold, shivery and light headed.

Dalrymps · 07/02/2012 11:52

Oh god, the sun on the windows. Looks like I've cleaned them with butterHmm

leftmymistletoeatthedoor · 07/02/2012 11:57

Toys and cushions on living room floor.

Stuff on kitchen table that needs put away. Dishes needing done and put away and bin needs emptied.

Otherwise tisy as it'll ever be

leftmymistletoeatthedoor · 07/02/2012 11:58

Tisy? Tidy.

boredandrestless · 07/02/2012 12:00

Octonauts have taken over my living room, maths sheets and comics on table in kitchen, DS bouncing off the walls unless I'm pinning him down to dispense eye drops.

Oh and the bloody cat has been sick on my bed so I have all bedding and double duvet to wash too.

thinneratforty · 07/02/2012 12:01

It's tidy enough, but needs to be hoovered and dusted. We've all been ill off and on now for three weeks so not much has been done recently!

Oneofthechildlessones · 07/02/2012 12:02

We're just sitting down for lunch - lounge is tidy apart from a colouring book and felt tips on the coffee table. Kitchen has a few lunch things on the side. Dc 4.2's bedroom is tidy apart from the whole dressing up ikea bag is in a pile in the middle of the room!

Flyingoutofcontrol · 07/02/2012 12:05

Bombsite.

No other description (barring a vomiting toy monster! Grin) will suffice.

And I CBA to tidy it, so am lounging on my bed reading and MNetting while DS naps.

I know I will regret this later, but my sanity requires a chill day every now and then.

BuckBuckMcFate · 07/02/2012 12:11

Mine is currently As It Should Be.

But that is only because I have closed the door on DS1's room (15yr old) therefore it no longer exists in my world.

DS3 is asleep and unable to create carnage.

DD and DS2 are both off school ill so are camped jn the middle room (sort of playroom but sounds nobbish to say it) playing Lego batman on the xbox while I've just cleaned the floor. I have told them they can't move as the floor is wet which means they can't get any toys out and destroy the harmony.

Bathroom cleaned. Kitchen cleaned. Did windows yesterday but no sunshine here to make me appreciate them. Beds all made. Cushions in their Proper Places.

This is a brief moment of the day.

DS3 will wake soon and theyll have lunch and trail crumbs and toys and bits of stickers and glue and spill juice and smear sticky fingers on stuff.

But I'm enjoying it while it lasts. It will next look like this at about 11:30 tonight.

Correctmeifiamwrong · 07/02/2012 12:19

Ironing up to the ceiling. Just tripped over a music stand (what is it doing there?) and a chess set fell off the top of a shelf and landed on my foot (again).

Slipped on a pile of books (boobly trapped room, I swear!) and a half-filled bottle of water dropped on my head as I tried to make the bed (a high sleeper).

Wet clothes on floor as someone left his house honours badge on his shirt and I popped it in the wash (I have only said every day after school - take off the badge and out it in the trinket box on your desk - every day!!!) and i have been trying to see if it is a) on the jumper, or b) wrapped around some integrl part of the machine.

Normal day really....

Correctmeifiamwrong · 07/02/2012 12:24

Oh and a pile of sewing. Are school sports clothes getting worse quality... I seem to be fixing knees every week. Roll on half term - shorts after this!

I've hoovered and cleaned the bathroom. DD2 is awake now and dd1 is home from nursery (and has shed clothes everywhere) so the clear living room floor will not last much longer,

All the bedrooms are tidy except for the spare one, where dd1's painting table needs cleaning and has done for about a week now

Washing basket is the middle of the kitchen floor, with the third and last load of washing waiting to be done.

Patio door are cleaned but the rest of the windows are covered in fingerprints

Correctmeifiamwrong · 07/02/2012 12:34

This is after I had a Big Clear Out yesterday and got rid of bin bags of old Christmas and Halloween stuff that 'I might need someday'. The place was tidy for about 5 minutes.

I find the promise of a nice cup of coffee and choccy bikky motivates me sufficiently.

DaenerysTargaryenButCallMeDany · 07/02/2012 12:38

All I've managed to do is vacuum today, I have an absolutely horrible cough and end up in fits if I exert myself at all so my house looks like all of yours combined!
