Sleepover Party - What age and how do you keep them entertained?

DD has asked for a sleepover party for her 8th birthday however has not been to one herself and I am not sure if the other DCs mums will be particularly happy about it (I would not like DD going to one but am over-protective!).

If it goes ahead was thinking about birthday tea and film but not sure what to do inbetween and am quite worried about the other girls running riot in the morning, DH is very precious about things in the house and I am worried he will shout at them!

What are your thoughts?

They don't run riot in the morning - they sleep in (because they've been awake all night), and as soon as they wake up you ring their parents to collect them.

I just left out plenty of DVDs and snacks and left them to it....

Don't overthink. We order pizza and have either birthday cake or make-your-own ice cream sundae bar. They watch a film and then they goof around for most of the evening giggling and telling jokes in their pyjamas and sleeping bags. I suppose you could set up some sort of craft for them to do? We have a good craft store near us that sells little pre-made wooden things (jewellery boxes, door signs etc.) that can be painted and decorated. In the morning we usually make pancakes, waffles or French Toast and then everyone is picked up by 10am.
