What's it like? Thinking of getting one, have 2 kids, one a baby in a second stage car seat.

I have a R reg one. Plus points are nice high up driving position, plenty of room in back for 2 child seats and you can just about get an adult in there too, dses love the picnic trays, storage space under the rear floor, cheap to run (I have td) and insure, good-sized boot.
Downsides are that you wouldn't get 3 child seats in the back, well perhaps boosters but not the big ones, battery is hidden under driver's seat and you need a screwdriver to get at it so rubbish if you need a jump start in a hurry), and they have all the personality of a garden shed.
I'd have one over a Picasso or Zafira anyday.

Oh, and the two sunroofs are pretty useful in the summer too.

I have an one too and absolutely love it!! Have had it for only a few months but it is the one with a/c and nice seats and the radio/cd controls on the steering wheel. I would say go for it!!! A definete must for moms on a budget who want an MPV.

We have a 2001 model (51 plate). Its our 2nd as we used to have the 4*4 version when in Switzerland. Really flexible seat/boot space with sliding/removable rear seats and storage under floor at rear and drawers under the fornt seat (although the cd changers is in one of ours). Ours use a Maxi Cosi Rodi and a britax freeway and there is till room for me to sit in between or a child on booster seat, with 3 point belt. Not driven the newer version myself but the space inside felt similar. Ours is a 1.6 petrol, old one was a 2.0, so I feel it is a bit underpowered but probably fine if I hadn't had the comparison. Also like the height as don't have to bend to put kids in and there is room in the back to get in easily myself to fit a child in the middle.

Drawbacks are parts and servicing being a bit pricey (as with Renault generally) and the rear seat belt clasp are sunk between the seats so it cna be hard to do them up and it is easy to inadvertently release the wrong one. Also find it hard to judge the rear when parking.

Have a '52 version and love it! Plan to have another when we change the car. Agree with comments re: seatbelts but the isofix bits are excellent.

LIZS · 21/01/2006 18:40

Is the battery really under the driver's seat ? Thought ours was in normal place but will have to check ! Can't imgaine where there might be room as we have drawers under both front seats [puzzled]

I have a ?04 and love it so much. I?m definitely going to get another one.

Plus points: I?m small but I can see the road and everything around me really clearly as you are positioned so high up. Also, loads of storage and room, lovely big boot, the 2 sunroofs made it really light inside. I also love the fact that I don?t need a key to lock or start the car. I just keep the credit card shaped key in my bag and never get it out.

Negatives: I agree with Liz, I got the 1.6 and would like a more powerful one. Also, my DH says its totally designed for women cos the peddles are quite close together. I?ve never found that to be an issue though.

I?m also pretty sure my battery isn?t under the driver?s seat.
No idea about how much it costs to maintain as mine?s a company car.

One thing to watch for if you do buy one with double sunroof (kids love being able to see the sky !) is that the roof between the two can apparently fracture easily and is a common fault. There were 2 rejected by the dealership at pre-sales inspection due to this before they found one suitable to sell to us.

I have a 51 model and also love it. The main thing for me is that its so easy to get DD in her car seat. No trying to lift and bend forward and down at the same time. I also like the fact that its high up.
