We were naughty and started bathing dd everyday at about 6 weeks. It's more routine than anything, cos then she has massage, feed, story then bed. I do love the smell of johnsons baby bath in her. Never had any problems with her skin atall x x

I bathed every other day, tbh I'd stick with just water and if skin is dry a quick coat of olive oil.

I bathed my kids about twice a week - in oilatum.

rumcrumble · 30/01/2012 06:32

We did about every 5 days, just water.

CogitoErgoSometimes · 30/01/2012 06:34

I bathed the baby daily. Like Mitjay, it was part of our wind-down bedtime routine and I also thought it was nice for him to splash around with no nappy after having been in one all day.

StickAForkInMeImDone · 30/01/2012 06:36

We did once a week at that age (no products) but did an olive oil massage every day.

belindarose · 30/01/2012 17:54

We did once or twice a week. Used oilatum in the bath and epiderm as 'soap' with double base afterwards - all on prescription.

Timeoutofmind · 30/01/2012 19:35

I bathed my DD every day as it was part of her bedtime routine, but at that age she had either just plain water or oilatum (which we had on prescription) in the bath. Think I'd stopped topping and tailing by that age as well.

It wasn't until she was about 6mths that I started adding products to her bath and she is 12mo now and only has products in her bath about once a week.

featherbag · 30/01/2012 20:56

Every day as part of bed time routine, with dry skin stuff and Johnson's bedtime bath stuff added. He now won't go off if he doesn't get his bath!

featherbag · 30/01/2012 20:57

Sorry, should add DS is 17 weeks, been bathing every day from about 10-11 weeks. He's in a fairly good routine now although DH is currently in the nursery trying to persuade DS to stop laughing and go to sleep

featherbag · 30/01/2012 21:01

I shouldn't have posted the 'r' word - ds is now in my lap giggling and generally not being asleep. He smells lovely though!

madaboutmadmen · 30/01/2012 21:02

water on its own can be very drying to skin,
try adding a emolient like Oilatum if your LO has this problem. Check the bottle but I think its ok for young babies too, your HV should know.

PaschaAndCustard · 30/01/2012 21:03

Once or twice a week, but then DS hated it until he was able to sit up on his own, it was a trauma. We just used a little hydromol because he was a bit eczema-ey, and a tiny drop of shampoo for the hair.
