Who irons baby clothes?

That's it, really! Admittedly we don't have any cute ruffles as we have a baby boy, but who has the time and inclination to iron tiny clothes that will be worn by someone who spends his days rolling around on the floor?!

I did!

And I ironed muslins for both of mine too. But that was my way of knowing I had it under control, if we had beautifuly ironed cloths to be sick onto! Hmm

HappylandHobbit · 26/01/2012 12:00

I did and still do. I used to iron muslins too so that they could be folded neatly and fit in the drawer.

ClarryKitten · 26/01/2012 12:22

mad people do. People who have nothing better to do. Thats who.

read a good book instead.

My mum told me to as it would make DD's clothes softer. I didn't and DD never objected to her clothes!

Olbasoil · 26/01/2012 12:37

1st baby only including nappies, muslins and bibs Blush

margoandjerry · 26/01/2012 12:41

Nutters Grin

But then I don't iron anything at all if I can help it. I buy tops with lycra in it to minimise the necessity of ironing and if something's pure cotton then I just never wash wear it.

HeidiHole · 26/01/2012 13:03

my ironing lady does

WeeLors · 26/01/2012 13:23

I agree with margoandjerry, I don't iron anything unless I absolutely have to. Nobody seems to point out my creased clothes notice Grin

TopazMortmain · 26/01/2012 13:35

My DH. Is very cute Grin

IWillOnlyEatBeans · 26/01/2012 13:58

I didn't when DS was tiny but do now he's a toddler!

foxy86 · 26/01/2012 20:08

i don't iron my babies clothes. with the amoung he goes through a week i would be ironing for 2 week just to get through it all. most of his clothes don't crease and if they are they just drop out easily. i think the only thing i would iron was jeans but i don't put him in them for the simple fact that i don't want to iron. i don't do any ironing. my husband knows where the ironing board is if he needs any of his stuff ironing. he has started a new job and they have a uniform with shirts so he can think again if he thinks i am ironing shirts. haha.

Firawla · 26/01/2012 20:25

for ds1 and 2 i did but i have stopped doing it now with ds3 unless they really need it. if i had more time i would though

suebfg · 26/01/2012 20:26

me - I did

PessimisticMissPiggy · 26/01/2012 20:29

I do. I wouldn't walk out of the house crumpled up so I don't let my DC.

fuzzypeach1750 · 26/01/2012 20:30

I do, have done for all 3.

G1nger · 26/01/2012 20:31

Who folds them neatly for the drawer? That's what I want to know.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 26/01/2012 20:31

I ironed everything when I was crippled with PND and anxiety. Not I just do outer clothes not vests etc

OddBoots · 26/01/2012 20:38

I don't iron much but I did iron baby clothes as my babies were very refluxy and felt like ironing them would sterilise them as I wasn't sure that non-bio powder would do well enough. Now I just iron shirts, pillow cases and t-towels.

gitinora · 26/01/2012 20:55

I do, and its the only ironing i enjoy doing Grin

BrianButterfield · 26/01/2012 20:58

I do! I like ironing, baby clothes take about a second each, and I like seeing them all nicely put away. Everyone I've ever known who said they've got "better things to do than ironing" watches soaps instead - no better or worse a way to spend your time, IMO.

TheCokeMachine · 26/01/2012 21:04

The nanny apparently.

Mumof1plustwins · 26/01/2012 21:12

I did/do....I ironed all Dd1s baby clothes, and when DTs were newborn and sleeping 3hrs uninterrupted I did but they soon got bigger and only nap for 20mins without me so haven't got time. I only iron essentials now like DD1s uniform.
And I did it because they looked v.pretty and I had time to spare! Smile

ThePetiteMummy · 26/01/2012 21:20

Not me! Except smart dresses for special occasions, e.g. a wedding. What I don't get is how you can actually iron most baby clothes, as they're so tiny, there isn't enough flat space to place an iron! Dd always looks neat & tidy, if you smooth clothes out straight from the wash, they don't crease, and most baby clothes are jersey type fabric anyway.

In answer to the other question above, I always fold them neatly into the drawer, why wouldn't you? Easier to see what you've got, and saves space too!

And I'm not someone who doesn't iron, I do everything that requires it for dh and I!

startail · 26/01/2012 21:24

I might of ironed the odd Summer dress, but not normally.
I generally don't iron anything.

I could say this is because my DSIs burnt her hand very badly on a cooling iron, but actually I am a lazy arse.

(Dmum had put the iron out of reach, right at the back of the work surface. For some inexplicable toddler reason, DSIS fetched her fattest teddy to stand on to get to it.)
