Whoever it was who recommended 'What Mothers Do' on another thread to another poster (in fact, I think several of you did) thank you, thank you, thank you Thanks

I ordered a copy when I saw your recommendations and have just spent a lovely hour in the bath reading it and thinking "Oh, that's how I feel", "Not just me then", "yes, exactly!" I feel sane for the first time in five months. I have banished all of the other books. I am going to try to stop asking on mumsnet for advice (and use it solely for entertainment!) I am going to trust my instincts.

Thank you.

Heh, funny you should post about this as this is exactly how I feel tonight after spending a couple of hours with the same book.

Having read so many other parenting books and having put myself under all that pressure and stress, What Mothers Do is like a hug or a pat on the back to say, hey, you are doing great, we are all doing our best, you'll be fine. Which is all you want to hear really! Our natural lack of self-confidence is what how-to parenting books prey upon!

It's amazing isn't it mpops?

And the best thing? For the first time EVER, LO slept in two five hour blocks last night. I didn't do anything different (relax maybe?!) but I got the best sleep I've had since he was born Grin

Hasn't performed such miracles for me yet Grin but I'm a lot more relaxed too. Yay!
