My ds is 8 months old and i'll be totally honest and say that i've found motherhood challenging, hard work and sometimes scary but of course amazing as well. I'm just starting to feel like me again and feeling much more confident as a mum, however have just found out i'm pregnant again.
We had to use fertility treatment to concieve first time and as an extra precaution had the copper coil fitted in Nov as we had decided to wait about 2-3 years before trying again. When i had my recent coil check up it was discovered the coil had fallen out and was sat nicely in my tilted cervix and not where it should be, and low and behold we had concieved (what are the bloody chances!!) Obviously this baby seems like a little miracle and we are both happy but..........
I'm really scared about coping with 2 small babies and would just love to hear how other mums have found having 2 under 2 and what the positives are as i'm currently only thinking of negatives which there is no point in doing.
Financially it seems scary and we live in a small 2 bed house and are not in a position to move just yet so everything seems so wrong to have another baby so please please give me so happy positive experiences, opinions and advice as there are needed! thank you mn's!!

Congratulations. I don't have that small age gap. To be honest you must be doing exceptionally well as a mum, I didn't have the time or the energy for the shananagans needed to get pregnant when mine was 8 months. :)

I'm sure it will be all fine tho and think how lovely it will be for them when they are a bit older and so close in age. Bet they will be best friends.

Thank you HouseworkP! Made me chuckle!
That's def a positive that they will be great friends as i know my friends with siblings close in age are closer than me and my sis who have 5 years between us.

Hi Waffles - congratulations!
I got pregnant with DD2 when DD1 was only 6 months ago. It was not planned and both DH and I felt incredibly stressed about having two children under 15 months when we had only just got used to having one baby!
Id say by the time I went into my second trimester I was reconciled to it and by third trimester was excited and counting down to the new arrival.
DD1 is about to turn two in February and DD2 is 8 month. I will be honest and say teh last 8 months have not been easy but nowhere near as hard as I imagied. Newborns sleep so much so the first 6 weeks were easy and DD2 is such a delight - she is a happy, laid back giggly little baby who makes me glow. She may not have been planned but I could not imagine our life without her and feel truly blessed to have her. There has beeen NO jealousy at any point from DD1 and even at this young age their relationship is somethign very special and makes me feel so delighted. On days when both are grisly and teething (yes two teethingc hidlren at same time YUK) the only thing which cheers them up is looking at each other!! They literally sit and look at each other and laugh for no reason.

The hard days are hard and at times it feels releentless looking after two small ones (DD1 still at home and not at nrusery yet) but they nap at same time at lunch (yay!) and the good days are just wonderful.
It wont be as hard as you think - the bottom line is it is always hard having 2 children rather than just one, and having a close age gap has many many perks.

if you want to chat more or want any specific advice i can reply to this thread or send me a message.
