Deferring an OU exam?

Does anyone know if it's possible to defer an OU exam? I've just heard that my exam is the day after I return from a week's holiday next June half term. It's my first holiday for 11 years and I'm returning to a place in the Mediterranean where I used to live, so lots of catching up with old friends etc... I really, really don't want to spend my holiday revising.

The only strategy I can think of that would help me would be to get so far ahead with my work that I can thoroughly revise before I go, but this doesn't look likely as I'm permanently trailing about two units behind everyone else!

A deferred exam would be brilliant, but I imagine it may not be allowed...

Well it says on the OU examination page that exams can't be deferred because of holidays so not what you are hoping for.

I deferred an OU exam last year because I was away. What they say is that if you booked the holiday before you started the course then you can defer, you just need to send evidence of the date you booked it to your local regional office. Now, if like me, you booked it after the course started, and the confirmation was in plain text on an email (not a PDF'd attachment), then I suppose, say, that you could change the date of the flight confirmation pretty easily. not that I would do that (or indeed did that last year) of course.
I got my deferral tho Grin Wink
