Just gave my ds (2.9) a banana, along with the comment "That's a big yellow banana!"

His reply?

"No, it's little orange banana"

It's the same with nearly everything!

Having moved on from being unable to make a chioce (he will now decide between milk and orange juice within seconds, previously would take 20 minutes and a tantrum), he is now trying to contradict basic facts of life.

I'm not remotely bothered, I am assuming it's a phase he will grow out of, but did/does anyone else go through this on a daily basis? Sometimes I feel like he is contradicting just to see what I will say

colditz I used to say things like the sun is in the sky today and my dd would say no its not!!

Anything just to contradict me. At first I found myself replying yes it is, ignoring it etc then one day realised I was the parent and told her to stop arguing with me, but they probably all do go through this

the strange thing is, he is so conversational about it! He takes on the tone of someone informing you that actually, your facts are not quite right, but don't worry because he doesn't mind.....

I must admit, I should probably stop him doing it, but I have had so many problems getting him to speak at all that I don't really care what he says, if he says something!
