Bedtimes - what's your kids bedtime?

MamaMaiasaura · 07/01/2012 22:11

Following on from seeing AIBU thread just wondered what bedtimes people have for their kids.

Ds1 age 12 has 8.30ish bedtime (often closer to 9)
Ds2 age 4 has 7pm bedtime
Dd 11 weeks goes up with me, but currently asleep on me

I don't change bedtime at weekends, but am flexible for special occassion.

DS1 is 8 -7.15pm
DS2 is 5 -7pm
DD-16mths -7pm

At weekends the boys are usually allowed to watch a program in bed such as Total Wipeout or whatever and go to sleep after.

DD is 6 and starts going to bed about 7:30.

DS is 8 and starts going to bed after DD has gone to bed so from about. He has cubs one night that finishes at 8:30 so goes later then.

Neither is an early riser so these bedtimes work fine. If they got up at 6am I would probably rethink :)

Both of mine go at around 7.30pm (7 and 10) although dd (10) is beginning to ask for a later bedtime and some activities go on later (eg Guides finishes at 8.30)

ohbugrit · 07/01/2012 22:28

DS is 4 and goes to bed at a variable time depending how tired he is but usually starts heading up between 6-6.30pm and is asleep by 7-7.30pm.

DD is 16 months and goes at the same time.

We are flexible in terms of if we are visiting family etc but their bedtime is still based on when they need to be in bed.

ginmakesitallok · 07/01/2012 22:28

DD1 is 8 - in bed between 7.30 - 8pm
DD2 is 2 - in bed about 7

PigeonPie · 07/01/2012 22:33

Both DSs (almost 4 and 6) go up for a bath at 6 then DS2 is in bed and usually asleep by 7. DS1 has more stories and should be asleep by 7.30. If we have a special occasion then I don't fret too much, but otherwise it doesn't matter if it's a weekend or weekday - they still get up about the same time and still need the same amount of sleep and they would get progressively more grumpy with less sleep.

NoWayNoHow · 07/01/2012 22:35

DS (4) is 7pm unless very special occasion/exceptionial circumstances.

CointreauVersial · 07/01/2012 22:37

DS1 (12) - 10pm (would stay up til 1am if he could)
DD1 (10) - 9pm
DD2 (8) - 8.30pm

Number of times per week we actually achieve these times? About twice. Blush

MamaMaiasaura · 07/01/2012 22:37

By bedtime I meant in bed going to sleep. The while performance with a 4 year old takes over an hour so he's up in bath at 6.

school days: dd (8) has lights out at 8.15pm and ds (5) is at 7.45pm
weekends: dd lights out at 9pm and ds at 8.30pm

FunnysInTheGarden · 07/01/2012 22:56

it should be DS1 about 7.30 then sleep by 8.30, and DS2 7pm then sleep by 7.30. Tonight it was DS1 about 9.30 and DS2 about 8.30. They are 2 and 6. Rarely are both boys asleep by 8pm, however they don't get up much before 8am if they can help it, so swings etc

Debs75 · 07/01/2012 23:01

DD1, 15 goes when she likes, we tend to send her up at 9.30 if she was watching tv with us then she goes to sleep about 10-10.30. Some nights she goes up after tea and we don't see her till the next morning

DS1, 12 goes at 8. HE has ASD and needs melatonin to help him settle so needs an early bedtime

DD2, 3 goes up at 8 as well, asleep most nights by 8.30

DD3, 16m whenever she falls asleep, usually between 9 and 11. SHe is a really light sleeper and will seem fast asleep on me as I feed her then be wide awake whens he reaches her cot. She also shares with DD2 which makes it harder to get them both to sleep.

I'm quite flexible with bedtimes and go by how they feel. When dd2 is at nursery she is tireder and often goes at 7 for a night or two. They do all seemt o be able to cope with the occasional late night as well which is good buit on the whole they like their sleep, as do I

letthembe · 07/01/2012 23:05

DS - 8 asleep most nights by 7.30 - 8.00, but he's up by 6am every day!!
DD - 7 in bed by 7 but reads, and reads, and reads and reads -sometimes until 10 (11 in the holidays!) She gets up later, especially in the holidays.

spamm · 07/01/2012 23:06

DS is 6 and goes to bed at 7pm on school nights - story and lights out by 7.30pm. On weekend nights, he gets to sit up a bit later, but bed by 8.30 at latest. Tonight might be a little longer - we are going out and wants to play Skylanders with the babysitter.

BeeMyBaby · 07/01/2012 23:23

DD1, 23 months, generally between 9-10 as she never needs to get up earlier than 8am and has a three hour nap, I don't really fancy her waking up at 5am if I were to put her to bed at 7pm.
DD2, 5 weeks, whenever she wants, generally with me.
