Any families with offshore workers?

Not sure where to post this, but..

Ds is 18months & we're considering ttc, but I'm worried that I might not be able to cope when pregnant or for first 6months with a baby. My husband is offshore (only 2weeks at a time) and we have no family support. I keep hearing that it's a massive change having 2 anyway, and am scared that with dh being offshore, it's going to be even harder.

So, can anyone give me any words of wisdom/ encouragement?

So basically, is

Me!

DH used to work 2 weeks away, 2 weeks home, which IMO was just about manageable. From Thursday he will be working 3 weeks away, 3 weeks home, which I am dreading. 14 days seemed OK, 21 days seems to stretch on and on and on....

I also have none of my family locally - we do have some of DH's but not in a reliable capacity

But what I am actually getting round to saying is DS is now 14 months and I am 15 weeks with baby number 2. I have absolutely no idea how we'll cope, or whether I'll end up a mad woman in a really messy house - but we just jumped in and will see what happens.

I know this isn't terribly useful to you, but at least we can compare notes?

FWIW early pregnancy has been exhausting, particularly the weeks when DH has been away - but I'm starting to feel loads better so perhaps it's just that rubbish first trimester. It'll be worth it (I hope!)

Good luck :)

Hi Fredandginger,
Congratulations on your pregnancy, I hope you feel much better now. Yes, an extra week will feel like forever at first, but hopefully it'll soon seem normal. 3 weeks at home will be lovely.

I think your right - jumping in might be the only way Grin We had no idea if we'd cope with one....

It would be lovely to compare notes - best go order some folic acid Wink
