pacifier / dummy?? I did with dd and never regreted it, she was only ever aloud it in bed.

Pregnant with DS I was determine not to have one, but got given some as baby gifts, DS is 4weeks old and not and sleeps an hour and a half, wake an hour at night and he bealy sleeps during the day. He feeds soo much and like to comfort suck on my boob to go to sleep, but will wake when I take him off it. Between lack of sleep, earthquakes and dd I'm lucky to get 4hours a sleep anight.... Am feeling I may give him a dummy but feel like uv failed as this is not what u wanted to do.

Did u give ur baby a dummy? Or not? What are your reasons for and against?

I'm very interested in peoples opinions

It's recommended to give dummy here now as it's believed to help with avoiding cot death (helps keep airways open I think)
My ds's would never have one though. Too used to boob!

DS bottle fed and had dummy for a few weeks took it off him at 4 months. DD breast fed until 8 months . I didn't want to her to need my breast as a comfort to soothe her back to sleep so when feed was finished and she still wanted comfort she had the dummy. All in all that made more free time for me Grin. At 10 months she can find her dummy during the night so i don't have to go in to replace it for her but i did have to for a few months. Imo it was easier to pop the dummy in than sit for ages feeding her back to sleep (obviously she got fed if she was hungry!!!)

Dd started having a dummy at about 6 or 7 months for sleeping. She only has it when napping, and sometimes in the car. She was breastfed till 15 months, but needed help getting through the different sleep phases and the dummy works well.

Ds hardly took a dummy until he was in hopsital at 8 weeks old, the staff asked if he could have one as they help regulate breathing.
