Has anyone heard about shared space and do they think it is a safe place for children to play?

Don't actually know anything about it, but there was a programme on Radio 4 the other day that I think you can listen again to: shared space

Like any street: it depends on the traffic etc.

Children play on our dead-end road (which has pavements so is not shared space), and just get out of the way for the occasional car that comes along (slowly, expecting children). I'd be horrified to see children playing on Exhibition Road in London when it fully opens as shared space though.

Just use some common sense about the roads your children will be on.
