I'm having real trouble dealing with my 7YO DD.

My eldest DD is really acting out. Whenever I ask her to do anything (go to bed, tidy room, share toys) it's met with resistance, which of course is to be expected. It's got to the point where she will storm off and say "I wish you were dead/I hate you/I don't want you as a mummy". I don't respond to this as I think that it will encourage her to say it more. But I will if she says things like this to her younger sister - I say how hurtful it is for her sister to hear these things.

It's reached the point where she got really upset that I was the one who picked her up from my mum's house after work today and not daddy.

She was sent upstairs to her room by DH because of the way she spoke to me - when she came downstairs to say sorry. I accepted her apology and gave her a cuddle and there are no hard feelings. But I am so desperate for it to stop and for us to improve our relationship. Sad

Is anyone else experiencing/experienced this phase and have any tips/coping strategies? (other than to drink copious amounts of wine)

123 magic .

My DD was very difficult at this age. I found the strategies in this book fantastic for dealing with with troublesome behaviour. Also helps you keep calm (thus not needing to hit the bottle every time she kicks off.)

Thank you. I'll have a look at that.
