I'm amazed at how much spanish dd has retained!!

She picked up a few words through watching Dora the Explorer but hasn't watched it for months and we haven't bothered keeping up with the spanish words.
That said, we've just bought her the Dora scrabble which has english and spanish and she has just correctly told me the meaning of around 10 words that I've said to her in spanish

Is it that easy for them to pick up another language at that age? (just turned 4) Is it a good time to encourage it and broaden the amount she learns?

it must be easy for them to learn at that age. when dd started receptyion, we were living in croydona dn dd went to a very multicultural school. Her friends were mainly indian, and she came home babbling away in odd bits tamil. I couldn't undertstand a word of it, and tamil isn't the easiest language to pronounce. It's a shame now we've moved she seems to have forgotten most of it.
