Quick question re. gammy eye

11mo dd has started with a gooey eye today - not bad, but yellow gunk being produced. Do I just bathe it in warm water or something, how bad does it need to be before a visit to the docs? I'm conscious that the law of sod dictates that she'll probably wake up on Christmas morning with her eye glued firmly shut with crusty yellow gunk!

Thanks all

Conjuctivitis can be viral, in which case you can just wash it and it goes away on its own.

If it's bacterial, the eye goes very red and nasty within a few hours and you'll know to go to the doctor/A&E. My DS2 had bacterial conjuctivitis when he was a toddler and the GP said he had to go to A&E and they gave him antibiotics.

worth a trip to the drs or at least HV. If you are still breastfeeding, breastmilk can help.

Boil water. Add 1 tsp of Salt per pint (you won't need a whole pint!) Allow to cool then bathe.
I would get medical opinion too esp as so close to Christmas.

Forgot to say. Cotton wool wipe from inner corner to outer then chuck it and get a fresh piece.
