Gah! Wrapped this up for my nephew before checking the box to see if it needs batteries. Can anyone let me know if it does and the type.

No it doesnt-they are supplied but if you need to check you can test it by pressing the funnel to see if it plays tune-you should be able to do this through the wrapping paper if you are careful.I bought it for dgs 2nd b'day and it is still played with 10 months later :)
