I am going to start potty training my dd (2 yo) soon, and i haven't got a clue, i do feel she is ready (tells me when she is about to do a wee/poo)but where and how do i start?

I have had the potty around for some time, but i don't think she likes sitting on it tbh..should i go straight for the toilet?

I am clueless please help lol, i don't want her to get stressed out and have lots of accidents (i know some will happen) but i don't want her confidence knocked.

Thanks

I would just take her out of nappies, put her in pants and tell her to let you know when she needs to go. You could go shopping and let her choose her own underwear.

There may be a few accidents but just say "never mind, next time do it in the potty" and put her on the potty.

If she's already telling you when she needs to go it sounds like she'll pick it up pretty quickly.

I think that in general, some accidents are inevitable. Ds, trained at 3mths peed all over the house for about three days, then got the hang of it. Good Luck, it is stressful but will be worth it.

Start with the loo, if she is keener on it, plus it has the advantage that she watches you useit,a nd knows what it is for. I find rewardign works best. One button for a wee, three for a poo. They soon get the hang of it. Ignore any slips ups, and give LOADS of praise for succeses.

Oh and I do a special trip to mothercare to pick out big girls knickers, with barbie or whatever after a bit of success. Cos after a few days they get a bit bored of the game and you need incentive to keep it going.
