Just got all my course materials through this morning.

I'm excited about doing it, but I'm part way through E111 and I work 4 days a week and have 3 primary age DC, so the excitement is tinged with dread and fear Grin

Is that the Eng Lang one? I did its predecessor about 8 years ago. I enjoyed it but met current Mr said halfway through so results took on a ski-slope shape.

I'm hovering over signing up. It looks good but it's a new course and I got burned badly before with a half baked one Sad

i did it last year and loved it. some of the materials are out of date now but overall my favourite course so far.

fraktious - this is the last presentation of the current module not a new course

said, it's just called 'Childhood' and it's a sociological / anthropological / historical study of experiences of childhood around the world. I'm hoping to complete the BA in Childhood and Youth (very early days yet) and it's a compulsory module.

It's got a formal exam at the end, which will come as a bit of a culture shock seeing as the last time I did one of those was 20 years ago!

don't worry about the exam - the last one i did was over 30 years ago and still managed to do very well

if you need any help just shout

fraktious · 08/12/2011 08:47

Ah I'm thinking of 214.

gingergran, what other modules are you taking?

also doing childhood and youth degree - done DD101 and U212. currently doing DSE141 (psychology) then ED209 (Child development) in February. after that plan to do KE312 or KE312 or maybe children's literature - which has very mixed reviews - and find another 30 points from somewhere to make up to 360 credits.

ExpectoPatronum · 09/12/2011 00:12

That's a shame that the children's literature course has mixed reviews, I really wanted to do that one. I'm approaching it definitely more from an education angle than a social care perspective. I'm doing E111 at the moment, and soon to start U212, then I'm thinking probably E214.

I'm doing 1 day a week as a placement in a school as a prerequisite for E111 and I love it. There's a vacancy to go full time there, so I've applied and if I get it, I will definitely angle my course choices towards things that will support my paid work.

Are you aiming for something in particular, career-wise, or are you doing it for the interest / challenge alone?

mainly for my own interest/challenge but not averse to using it to further career prospects although i reckon by the time i'm finished i would be better studying geriatrics rather than children!
