Baby bad breath

My DD (4 months) has recently started getting bad breath occasionally. Is this normal? Should I be doing something to make it better? If so what?

TIA

Aah is it just the usual slightly musty baby breath?

Iggly · 26/11/2011 20:59

Is it sharp/acidic? Have you introduced formula/new formula?

It could be a sign of reflux (more silent reflux with not much chucking up) but there are other signs too.

Or a tummy bug?

It could be tonsillitis if there are other symptoms. My DS 4 mths had slightly bed breath when he got tonsillitis.

Breast fed? There's a point when it smells same on their breath as in their nappy.

BroomForMyChin · 26/11/2011 22:21

No other symptoms. She is formula fed. It's not the nice usual milky smell. It's sort of almost like morning breath or bad breath you get when thirsty? No other symptoms so not overly worried as she seems fine.

Teething seems to bring on a bit of musty breath in my DD....

Yup, I always know when DS is teaching because he gets honey breath.

my DD has had this the last few days. She is 6.5months and has two small teeth so we've just introduced a toothbrush but am also concerned its something to do with her digestion. She's always been sicky but had been getting better since starting on solids but seems to have regressed. Might check it out with HV this week. Will let you know if I find out anything useful

My 8 month old has had this recently, I just assumed it was because she is still a very windy baby even with loads of solid food. Just assumed that it was cos she was now burping with food in her tummy not just milk???

My DD used to get bad breath whenever she had a cough/sore throat. Could that be it?

YouOldSlag · 11/12/2011 18:58

Mine used to get slightly fishy breath when he was constipated. It does go back to lovely baby breath again though.
