BEST Blue Badge Comeback

I saw a great idea on a website and I thought I would share it with you guys. It was made on one of those business card machine things you find at the train station and other places. Basically the guy posting had become sick to death of being challenged at the disabled bays and made himself up business cards listing his illness/ symptoms and then put at the bottom.

Thank you for your concern about disabled parking abuse, but please do not abuse the genuinely disabled.

I wouldn't be so polite at the bottom.... would you?

I know someone who was accused of misusing a BB space - his response was to take off his artificail leg and throw it at the person.

wish I could have seen that!

I love the fact that people look at us as a couple in our 40's (just) with a primary aged child and sometimes nearly 18 year old and judge us before we even get out of the car. I see their side glances and sometimes stares, and I have to say the elderly are the worse.

Then we get out and they very quickly turn away when DP as his white stick andaits for me to guide him. Sorry but I giggle eveytime.

i know i was told off before when i mentioned this, but 3rd time this has happened to me recently! yet again the last parent & child bay was taken by an elderly person with a blue badge, even though there were several disabled spaces available. i am waiting for my bb application to be processed atm & on the rare occasions i can go out on my own with lo, i rely on the parent & child bays nearest the store. i really felt like pointing out in a polite way that he had taken the last space i was relying on & that his bb was for disabled bays not parent & child! sorry if this p*** anyone off but when my pain levels are through the roof & i am limping about trying to look after lo i find this kind of thing really stressful!

TBH I don't think anyone has challenged me ever about my Blue Badge, but I think the business card thing is a fantastic idea.

I used my bb for the first time today and got attitude about it - from a traffic warden! He didn't believe I "needed" to park on a single yellow line. We had driven about and looked, but I honestly can't walk far as I have no feeling in my lower legs or feet and very insecure balance.

Now I reckon I should have taken his name and number but I was just genuinely shocked! I only lost the use of my feet and hands in December, I'm adjusting to life with a disability, and to be disbelieved made me mad. Does anyone ASK to be disabled?

weegiemum That does sound out of order - you have a blue badge, you are entitled to park on a single yellow line. Who is the traffic warden to decide whether you need to park there or not?!
