Sleep help

I have a 21mth old who went through the night at 6 weeks. For the last 2/3 mths she has been getting up several times a night. We always tell her bed time, and put her back and then don't speak but put her back to bed. It started because she was ill. This is clearly not working and DH and I are starting to get very tired.

What can anyone suggest to help us get her sleeping through again.

Should probably add she is still having a nap in the afternoons and goes to Creche in the morning because both my husband and I work.

We did the same thing as you with our son. He was a terrible sleeper but then finally settled at 18months only to start the waking up crying throughout the night after a period of being ill. It took us a good 4 months or so to finally get him back to sleeping but it did eventually work. How long is the nap for? Our DS still has an hour each day around noon. I'd stick with the soul destroying, all consuming, never ending non talking putting back to bed thing as I don't know of any alternative other than the leaving them to cry thing which I couldn't do with DS

Her nap is about the same as your ds. We cannot leave her to cry either.

Just keep putting him back in his bed then, low light (if any) and no cuddles works best apparently. You go in first time saying bedtime now cuddle and lie her down, then each time you go back you just lift and gently lie her down. We did this for what felt like forever but DS eventually got the message and sleeps well now apart from the occasional wobble. Good luck Gonzo
