When do you leave dad to sort out the crying?

We usually take turns at going to soothe dd if she starts crying in her sleep. But lately she's only stopped if I come in and (I think) she hears my voice. She's 17 wks. Don't know if I should keep this up as. Don't want her to keep crying longer than 10 mins (which is the max I leave it) but I also want her to be able to look to dh for comfort as well. And poor dh feels rather badly that he (thinks he) can't soothe her (even though I point out I have the ultimate tool when all else fails: boobs). What do you all do?
