Hi, I am a newbie to mumsnet! My DH and I are going through the adoption process at the moment and have been asked to buy a general Parenting Guide (not one specifically for adoption, ie attachment etc); this would be general parenting for any age from 2 - teens! Does anyone have any recommendations? :) Thanks.

There is no one parenting guide that covers 2 to teens quite simply because it's as different as apples and oranges.

Maybe a combination of "toddler taming" and "beyond toddlerdom" for up to 12 year olds, beyond that "get out of my life, but first take me and Alex into town" is good for understanding teenagers.

Good luck

"The incredible years - a guide for parents" (2 to 7 years) by Carolyn Webster-Stratton is excellent.

The "Positive Discipline" series is worth looking at.
