I believe wishwales who was originally due August this year had her baby girl at 32 weeks. She is thriving, and fully well. They had to stay in hospital for a couple of weeks I think, but then they could go home.

I think most women who have twins find they give birth early. Don't worry about your babies, they are obviously active and that's a good thing. :) Good luck!

Hello xkatyx fingers crossed for you. My ds1 was born at 33 weeks and he is doing ever so well. I am so proud of him. He had to stay in hospital for nearly 4 weeks, in an incubator for part of it and the tubes attached and the noises are scary but the nurses were fantastic. I was not able to see him until the following day as I had had an emergency c section and I was not well enough to go and see him. But the nurses were brilliant and they sent me a picture of him within the hour so that I could have that. They started a little diary for him so I would know what he had been up to while I was not there. The first night was scary as we did not know what was going to happen but he grow stronger and stronger and now he has started school and is in reception. He is only 4 but he is doing so well at school. We had parent's eve the other night and I was told that he is one of the brightest in his class. Good luck with it. Have they given you a stearoid injection to get them to grown (their lungs) just in case? How are you feeling. Do you know what you are having? Wish you all the best and let you know how it goes.

My DD (now 5 months) was born at 32 plus 4 and is totally fine. She was born at 4lb, was in NICCU / SCBU for just over 2 weeks (feeding tube for about a week, then EBM by syringe / bottle, then breastfed almost fully to 9 weeks, mixed to 4 months, fully formula fed now - prem babies are VERY hungry and maternal milk is often not adequate due to the right hormones not having kicked in, I've heard), and is now around 17lb, smiling, rolling, chuckling and sleeping through the night. She's been dismissed from the neonatal follow-up system as everyone is so happy with her development. I'm sure your twins will be fine! And they might hang in there for a good few weeks yet!

My 32 weeker is now 11 - weighed 2lb 13oz, stayed in SCBU for 6 weeks and weighed 4lb 5oz when she came home. Yes it is scary but the staff are specialists and will make you and your partner comfortable and you can bombard them with "stupid" questions to your heart's content. I always refer to it as the NHS at its best! Good Luck!

DH was born at 31 weeks 30 years ago.

He's absolutely fine. Can't whistle for toffee and leaves dirty washing next to the basket instead of in it, but I can't blame prematurity for either of these things.

A 32 weeker, though in need of special care usually, has excellent odds for being absolutely fine.

DN was born at 32 weeks weighing 4lb 9oz and is now 20mo and doing really well. He's behind in physical development but has physio every week and can now stand up. Otherwise he's just fine. My SIL has several long-term health problems that get worse during pregnancy so DN didn't grow properly. Every baby really is different and I wish you and your two the best of luck.

I had DS2 at 32 weeks last November...he's 1 tomorrow! He was 3lb 8oz and apart from needing a feeding tube was absolutely fine. They warned me that he'd need oxygen and would probably need to go into Room 1 (which is the highest level of care) but he didn't need any help at all and went straight into Room 2 for 3 days and then into the nursery to feed and grow. I had Pre-Eclampsia and was given the steroid injections...I assume if they are thinking your twins are coming sooner rather than later then you'll be given them as well?

As I said he's 1 tomorrow and is am absolute delight...still quite teeny but I think he was probably destined to be smaller anyway as Im tiny.

The staff in NICU's are truly amazing people...they love and care for every one of those babies like they are their own.

Our 33 weeker was in SCBU for 3 weeks, and has now just started school. Shes doing great, i would say she had caught up 'sizewise' with her peers by 3 yrs. Good luck to you :o)
