Is my DS ready to be potty trained?

Hi
My DS is 2 1/2 years and I think that he is probably ready for potty training. For the past week or so I have been sitting him on the potty at morning, lunch and night and he is mostly happy to sit on it. He's also done 3 wees in it but as he's still in nappies it's a bit hit and miss if anything's there! We read books whilst he's on the potty which he likes. Sometimes though he says he doesn't want to sit on it but eventually does with some encouragement. He doesn't often tell me when he's done a poo but if his nappy is too wet he will ask me to change it. I am not sure what I will gain by waiting any longer. Does it sound like he is ready. He's my first so I'm a beginner!
Thanks

I'd suggest taking the nappies off when you're at home and have a stack of clean pants handy instead. With my DS, he was more conscious of needing to 'go' if he knew he'd end up with wet pants. Having said all that, if you get far more misses than hits and he really can't tell you when he needs to go, you can always stop and pick it up again in a few weeks.
