DD desperately wants acting agent - advice please

Soon to be 12 yr old DD has been begging for acting agent for months. Goes to weekly drama class (they don't push professional side at all) and has done a few smallish amateur parts but is determined this is the career for her. Not sure where to start or pitfalls etc. Anyone with experience to share? .

Surely an agent will only take her on if she has identifiable talent? (not saying she doesn't, btw), but isn't it just the same as a model agency - who goes on their books is at their discretion, not yours? See what her drama teacher thinks.
