Okay I am shy at the school gates and my ds aged 10 wants a lad to come over to play after school.
I have never spoken to the mother of this lad and I have never seen her at the school gate however I know her by sight.
I took advice off here and sent a note via ds to this lad to give to his mom explaining that my ds wants her ds to come over and I wrote my telephone number down asking if she could text or phone me to arrnage something.
I didn.t get any response.
Ds still wants the lad to come over should I try again or what.
I think she got the note because ds told me that the other lad said that his mom said she is no way bringing him all the way over to where we live although it would only be about 2 miles.

Ahh bless ya.

Putting myself in that position - half of me would be thinking "take the hint" - but then I'd be angry that the other person didn't even have the manners to respond!

So, for that reason - I'd be likely to approach her, in a pleasant way and just say "Did you get the note I sent you?"

She'll know what you mean right away and then she'll have to tell you herself!

There could be all sorts of reasons - family commitments etc which means it'd be difficult for her. But, she should at least acknowledge it and perhaps by speaking you could even come to some agreement - like if she says she'd struggle with the travel, you could then suggest you take him home or meet at a park half way or something?

Surely she doesn't have to bring him over, you can just collect both of them from school, can't you? Still leaves returning him home, I suppose, but if your DS is that keen on having him over you could always drop him home yourself.
