Anyone know anything about AFL scores?

DSD is in year 10 and we've been having a few problems lately with her. DH has been speaking to his ex about her schooling, wondering if her attitude at home is reflected in her school work. His ex is keen to reassure that everything is ok, but really DH has no clue because he's been excluded from parents evenings for the past nine years and their step dad has gone (sore point), although DH does see their school reports.

We've been given her AFL report, but we don't understand the AFL grading. For the majority of her classes she is currently graded at c/d/e but it says that her targets for year 11 are A/Bs and B/Cs. Does that mean she's currently working below achieving that target, or that with another year's learning behind her she should achieve the As, Bs and Cs? When i was at school, which i appreciate was a long time ago now (!) they would give a predicted grade and the grade you're currently working at pro rata for the year of schooling i was in. For me at least the two sets of gradings pretty much matched and were reflected in my GCSEs results.

Anyone understand the system?
