How warm?

Has anyone taken their pre schoolers ice skating at an indoor ice rink? If so, how do you dress them? Do they need lots of layers or normal clothes as if going outside on a cold day?

I put on normal clothes but with an extra jumper over the top, not his coat as it makes it a bit bulky. Waterproof trousers can be a help if they haven't been before to avoid wet bum if it is real ice but not needed if synthetic. Gloves are important!
