Advice for my new baby

Hi guys

I?m a new mother and my daughter is 4 months old. It?s my first child and I need some good advice on raising her with the best products. I haven't been living in the UK for long so I don't know any good brands. Where can I gather reliable information about food, nutrition and other things? Should I believe magazines, TV and websites? Any thoughts would be appreciated and very helpful.

Foodwise: buy fresh and local. No need to be seduced by brands; use ndividual recommendations and trust your instincts.

I would make your own baby food then you can be confident about what you are giving to your baby is fresh and healthy.

She doesn't need any solid food yet, but when she does, make it yourself rather than buying it. There's a very good nutrition guide in What To Expect The First Year if you're unsure what to include and when. There's also a good NHS weaning book.

What other things are you thinking of? Highchair-wise a TrippTrapp is very good, if pricey.

If you're new to the UK, maybe joining a mother and baby group would help you find out the information you need? Other mums are usually very happy to share advice on what are the best nappies or whatever.
