Cleaning Breast Milk Off a Mattress...

Oh God. What a terrible night! Half asleep and knocked over a whole bag of expressed breast milk (that I was trying to feed my son) all over our fairly new memory foam mattress. I soaked off what I could with a towel but it's still pretty wet. Any ideas on how to go about cleaning it? Or is it now a complete write off that's going to stink out the whole house for years? I could cry. In fact I have cried already. I'll cry again. Maybe that'll help. Sleep deprivation. Uggggggh.

Keep drenching it with water and mopping it up with towels until what comes out looks more like water than milk. That should dilute it. Finally drench it with water mixed with some of that fabric conditioner that has Febreze in it and leave it outside to dry in the fresh air for as long as you can.

Breast milk doesn't smell or go off like cow's milk...

Agree with waitingfornaru, when my DD was 3 weeks old I woke up to find I'd leaked through the breast pad, bra and nightshirt through the bottom sheet and mattress cover.

There wasn't loads on the mattress admittedly but it doesn't smell and she's now 14 weeks.
