Key worker child development record about your child at nursery - Have you read yours?!!!

Yesterday my daughter's key worker at nursery showed me the file they have made about her developed since she started nursery in 2008, when she was 5 months!! She let me bring it home, and I had tears in my eyes from laughing or just being stupidly proud at all the things she had said or done at nursery since age 5 months to now.

I can't believe how much detail they go into with analysing child development. I mean, every single thing that my daughter has been doing, like crawling to intereacting with other children has been logged. For example, they have written things like "X said that butterfly is bigger than this one"...I couldn't believe these things had been logged! And over 3 years, it ALOT of paperwork.

I just wanted to know if anyone else has read their child's development record at nursery, and what you have thought?

Our parents sign to say they are happy to have photo's taken, those photo's stay within the setting.
The child's file is passed onto the next setting, whether another nursery or school - wherever the child goes, the file goes with them.
The file is given back to the parents at the end of the foundation stage where I am (at the end of the reception year), however the parents are shown the completed file before it is passed on.
The photo's are given to the parents as they leave our setting as a memento of all the lovely things they have done and moments we have been able to capture Smile
