so so upset about hats

We went to preschool this morning and everyone had to wear a hat outside. That's the rule. DS was so so so upset about his sister and his teacher wearing a hat. He cried for 3/4 an hour, rolled on the floor, threw things and generally was a mess. He just seems to not like his favourite people wearing hats.
I understand why he wouldn't want to wear one as it could interfere with his hearing aids, but he is just so upset about other people wearing hats! It sounds like a faintly ridiculous problem, but hats are really important this side of the world in summer. I am not sure what to do about it. Its going to be a looooooong summer.

Any suggestions?

how old is he? do you think that he thinks that other people can't hear well with their hats on too?
or do you think it was just one of those random child things where they decide something is "wrong" and tantrum over it even though it's a total non-issue?

doies he do it every time they wear a hat?

He has just turned four. He whips his sister's hat off every time she puts one on. He has quite a thing about hair, really likes it and I wondered if it was to do with that. I don't think it is to do with others' hearing. He doesn't mind DH wearing a hat as he is bald on top and wears hats all the time to protect his head.

Possibly is just a random thing, but with DS he tends to persist with it! I guess I am just going to have to persist back. or find a book that explains about being sun safe maybe.

yeah might be the hair thing then!
hope you can sort it though it sounds like it's really frustrating for you and for him

He is Rilly lovely and did a great zoolander pout as a baby but he will have to accept that people wear hats in summer!
