DS' fuzzi's are now too big for him! Keep leaking! Legs too skinny! What to do?

DS has been in fuzzi's since 9 months (mediums). He is just turned 12 months and is 19.5lbs. For the last month the fuzzi's are always leaking around the inside leg. Almost every one leaks . When I put the nappy on I can see it gaping around his leg so no surprise really. Can't carry on like this - too much washing and hassle!

But I want to still use cloth. DH says stick with them as DS' legs are bound to get chunkier. I'm not so sure- won't they get thinner if he starts walking in next 6 months? Are the petite toddler size any good? Any other ideas.

Thanks in advance x

if he is only in medium still then go up to large?

what do you stuff with?

sleighbells · 23/12/2005 22:33

The mediums are too big! Large would be even more disastrous. I'm wondering whether I should try small!! Off to look at the measurements for small...

Is my DS freakishly skinny round the legs?!! I think he's nearly 20lb actually now. Height 50th percentile. He ain't big but ain't a lil dot either. I am so annoyed that they gape so badly!

hmm, mine gapes sometimes if i had too much stuffing in them iyswim? it made them so fat that they weren't snug round his thighs..

sure mediums ought to be fine... ds is just growing out of his at around 23lb

maybe try some other styles? wonderoos are quite niec

Yes you could be right about the stuffing. I use cotton bottoms inserts from the naturalbabyresource. They are meant to be the most absorbant insert you can get but they may make the nappy too bulky and gape. I only have one other insert- haven't noticed whether he leaks with that one. I also have a dozen tesco microfibre cloths so I might just use them tomorrow...
What do you stuff your nappies with?

i use a fuzzi bunz insert (microterry things) and a terry booster.
or at night i use 2 inserts, but in a large nappy.

i also found with fuzzis that if he was sitting down for long periods they would tend to leak... presumably the pressure on the stuffing making it not absorb so much????? that's just my theory!

a lot of the time now i use tots bots or bumbles... much less leakage! lol

DD (9 months)is in Medium Fuzzis and it took me quite a few weeks experimenting with different stuffings before we got settled - i.e. no leaks and decent wear time. We have ended up with the Fuzzi microterry inserts and the Tesco microfibre cloths. I use one insert and one Standard Tesco cloth (coloured) or one insert and two value Tesco cloths. They are a bit bulky but not actually too bad.
The Tesco cloths were my best ever tip from mumsnet BTW - must have saved me a fortune so thanks whoever mentioned it!!
