LONDON MUMS PLEASE HELP ME

Not sure is this the is right forum to post this on but hey ho. I am heading on holiday which is going to involve taking my 10 yr old DS to London for a day. Have not been to London with a child ever and haven't been in years and years anyway. So can i ask some advise......thinking of taking him to the Imperial War museum. Would this be a good place to visit? And if yes what is nearby that would be of interest to a fairly easily pleased child? Don't want o have to juggle too many line changes on underground( yes i know i sound like a hilly billy but Perth is a wee town!!!!) All advise/hints/tips ideas would be really welcome. Heading away tomorrow so please help soon!

Imperial War museum excellent for this age group, and you can walk up to the river after- lots to do there.

Science museum good too, and close to natural history museum and Victoria and Albert museum all at south Kensington tube all free and fairly close to Hyde park too.

If weather is nice a walk along the South Bank (from London Bridge) is great-HMS Belfast and Tower Bridge, the Golden Hind, Tate modern (for a 10yo probably just pop into the turbine hall for a quick look, it's free to get in), millennium bridge and St Pauls, London Eye and finish at the Aquarium...Usually lots of mime artists and similar en route and there are plenty of boats to watch and ride on (Thames clipper) if you want. Easily fills a whole day and plenty of family friendly places to eat along the way.

South Ken as someone has already said is great, Nat History museum and Science museum both free and next door to each other. Good places to eat in both.

The London Eye and Aquarium are £$£ for what they are though

I'd suggest doing a couple of the museums (IWM is brilliant) and a walk along the South Bank tbh

I'd second the walk along the South Bank. Whenever I've set off to do this with my DS it normally takes longer than expected and we often don't make it as far along as intended because there's always something there to catch our attention.

London Walks guided walking tours are good too, there's a Harry Potter one if he's in to that but plenty of others are good for kids too.

Third the walk along the South Bank. You didn't mention a budget but Tower Bridge experience is great, and not too expensive, Tate Modern is free and HMS Belfast, though not cheap, should be perfect for a boy his age, and very educational.
