Babysitting Costs - North London

Hi,

I haven't had to pay a babysitter for years but now find that we would like to spend an evening out so need to pay someone to look after my 8 Year old.

Our neighbour's 24 year old is willing to stay with her but I have no idea how much to pay him. Can anyone tell me how much they pay their babysitters.

TIA

I would imagine somwhere £6 - £9 per hour?

I pay £9 per hour, but that is for caring for a baby.

£5/hour here.

£8 per hour evening, £10 per hour during the day. I'm in London and that's what I pay (everyone I know pays similar). "Qualified" nannies/agencies charge more, I believe.

£5 an hour for a teenager, £7 an hour for an older person to sit 2 slightly older children in SE London.

I pay £5 if they are asleep, bit more if they have actually had to 'do' something - waking/ill child. We are outside London though.

I'm in north London, £10 an hour day or night.

Oops, that looked like I was advertising myself for sitting. I meant that's what we pay our baby-sitter who is a nanny!
