cot mobiles

This sounds a really stupid question but I wondered if cot mobiles can be used on cribs as well as cots.

I know they are not suitable once a baby is sitting so should be removed when the baby is 6 - 9 months old and I think if they are in a crib or moses basket for most of the time until then they it wouldn't be worth buying one if they are only suitable on cots. I can't see any reason why they cant be used on cribs but I've seen lots of pictures of cots with mobiles and none of cribs with mobiles.

PS Please dont think I'm stupid!

It's probably more to do with them not being sturdy on a crib. We attached a very light mobile to the frame of dd's moses basket stand and you only had to woft past 3 feet away and it'd topple into the basket! If you can secure it, I'm sure there's no reason why not.

When dd was small, she wouldn't sleep without her mobile. She didn't have a crib, but when we were travelling she slept in a carry-cot: I used to attach the mobile to a chair (wooden kitchen type) and put it next to the carry cot. You could do that with a crib!
