How much should I expect to pay for all day nursery.

I'm going to put my daughter into nursery from about 11 months for two days a week (full days so probably 8-6) ;0(
How much should I expect to pay? We live in Essex if that makes a difference.
Just had an email from a nursery who said their prices are currently £46.35 but to expect an increase in November. Is this about normal?
My husband and I both get the childcare vouchers through work.
Thanks

Not sure about normal costs on the mainland, but here in Northern Ireland I was quoted between £36-£40 for full day hours at 3 different nurseries.

We have two nurseries in our town - affluent-ish are in Scotland. One is £36 and one is £40, have to supply own food at both.

I'm in Essex and that sounds about right, places I looked at ranged between 45-61 a day.

Ours is £52 a day but includes everything! Will drop to £47 once DD is two as the staffing ratios change. We are south west rip off town!

detoxdiva · 05/09/2011 20:30

Ours is £50 a day and includes breakfast, lunch and tea & snacks. Have to supply nappies and wipes. Also in the South East.

TryLikingClarity · 05/09/2011 21:49

Oh, I forgot to say: the ones I mentioned above provide food and snacks, but parents need to supply nappies, wipes and change of clothes.

cockle84 · 05/09/2011 22:49

Wow, £61 a day! Thanks for all the responses-very helpful

£65-80 a day in London seems to be the range, so I reckon you're getting a good deal and am slightly Envy.

And no, I don't think London salaries are comparably higher...

Hey ho. My whole salary pretty much goes towards childcare...

I pay £38 for a full day here in Belfast. That includes 2 snacks and a hot lunch. All I provide is nappies and a change of clothes. Oh and my son. Grin

Northernlurkerr · 06/09/2011 08:16

That sounds about right considering you are in the south-east. I pay £38 per day including lunch and tea. It also included nappies when she was in them. We are in the Noth though.

LawrieMarlow · 06/09/2011 08:18

About five years ago it was about £45 a day in North Herts.

Metalhead · 06/09/2011 08:36

Ours is £53 a day, including breakfast, lunch, tea and snacks. We have to provide nappies and nappy cream. This is in the South East as well. I didn't come across any nursery below £50/day in out town.

Metalhead · 06/09/2011 08:37

in OUR town, that should've read...

Woodlands · 06/09/2011 08:45

Ours (in London) is about £47 a day too (for under 2s).

sleeplessinderbyshire · 06/09/2011 08:49

mine (east midlands) is £32.50 a day inclusing 3 meals, 2 snacks and all activitiies but I supply own nappies and wipes. It goes down to £31 for over 3s.

When I used to live (South Yorkshire) it's more like £40-50 a day. Think it really depends on area, friends in London and in Reading pay £60 a day minimum

LikeACandleButNotQuite · 07/09/2011 17:15

£29 a day in Gateshead, inc b'fast lunch and afternoon tea. £135 all inc pr week, or £17 per half day (inc lunch OR aftrnoon tea)

Bargain!!

Octaviapink · 07/09/2011 19:25

Oxford is about £50 a day including really horrible nappies and all snacks.

notcitrus · 07/09/2011 19:32

Non-posh south London - £49/day for under-2s including 3 meals and snacks etc; you provide nappies, wipes and any creams though they apply sudocrem if there's redness. It went down about £2/day once ds was 2. Typical for the area.

Though one nursery locally is £69/day - the only benefit seems to be being able to associate with the type of people who decide to pay that much more...

TransatlanticCityGirl · 08/09/2011 22:01

London £48-70 per day.

wearymum200 · 08/09/2011 22:05

Paying £42 a day in Oxford, including all meals but not nappies

negrilbaby · 11/09/2011 19:40

DS's nursery increased their fees to £80 a day at Christmas. Couldn't afford to send DD so gave up work and we are moving out of London.
The money includes breakfast, lunch, snacks and afternoon tea and nappies and wipes. No discount for when they get older and the ratios decreased.
If you try and use the early years funding to reduce the fees, they charge £25 for the hour and half between the am and pm sessions (to include lunch). If you claim two free sessions in the day 9-12 and 1:30 - 4:30 but need the child to be in nursery 8 - 5:30 you will still be charged £55!

Can't wait to leave town!!!

EssexGurl · 13/09/2011 19:56

We are in Essex (clue in the name). DD is 2 and her nursery fees are £50 a day - including all males, nappies/wipes. Rate decreases as they get older as they need less 1-1 care. So for an 11 month at our nursery I would expect closer to £55. So what you've been quoted seems reasonable. DH uses childcare vouchers - definitely worth you both signing up if you can.
