Husband and I have severe arthritis, not the old bid type of wear and tear on joints from time but the imune system attacking every thing in our bodies type, even organs. So I had my illness since I was 15mths old so I have short arms due to steroid treatment I haven't grown normally, I have deformed joints, can not pick heavy weights up and my husband is similar.
The lack of info out there is awful for disabled parents, sure there are people suggesting getting carers and how to do that or where to buy ridiculous thousands of pounds worth of specialist cot and not one organisation does anything normal. Not one tells people where easy accessible car seats can be found, what brands are easiest or lightest, how about nappies, what brand of nappies are easiest to do in terms of holding the tags and doing and un-doing.
Where are the shared experiences, its only till I came on here I realized there were others feeling like me. Well I and some other parents feel that this is dreadful in 2011 and through there comments and help and my husbands and my own experiences of being disabled parents, we have a blog which reviews high street baby equipment with disabled parents in mind, shares experiences and tips etc.
Take a look and eventually I will be blogging about cots and buggies, only been going for a week and I have an 8mth old making huuuuge babbling demands on time :o)
I am a mumsnet blogger, find me under DisABLEd Parent-bear in a wheelchair with a baby bear :o) Or go to the blog directly:
